We were obligated to work remote for all the right reasons in early 2020. I’m so grateful that even now I have the option to WFH or consult IRL.
Subjectively, my productivity was significantly higher and work/life balance has improved so much.
Nothing is devoid of stress but, it’s much better
So true. I’m one of those whose employer wants people back 3 days a week. But that’s what it was preCovid so it’s the norm they want. No real reason to be there so much though.
Felt. One of my favorite coworkers just quit because the bosses were demanding a return to the office. Not because they were doing poorly just because "its time". So stupid.
But what if, and hear me out, what if we offer employees more casual events with each other at the office? Outside normal work hours, of course. Basically, mandatory dinners with coworkers. Where the boss will write you up if you don't come.
Ok, they still prefer remote? I've run out of ideas.
Maybe people realized that, for certain positions, there's no need to sacrifice simply because they're told to. They can balance work & life and still get stuff done.
I argue that is the point. They want to lay off people without laying off people. Building cash runways without the PR that is bad for investors. Investors don't give a shit if people leave, they do perk up if you have to do rif's to survive. Don't be fooled.
They should just let us work from home. Or better yet collapse and let individual labors rule the market place, we need more farmers not bought off my industrial politics, we need more sex workers willing to know their worth and fight for equality, we need to set our sights on the space too.

The articles are pro-corporate control-freak management BS.
Mgr: "How do I know you're working?"
Me: "Because I hit my deadlines (or earlier) 100% of the time. Go away."

but if I gotta, I'd like it to not suck!
