Jimmy Donaldson, better known on YouTube as MrBeast, has co-written a thriller novel with author James Patterson. The book is reportedly already at the center of an eight-figure bidding war for publishing rights.

As someone who worked as a librarian for a long time in the 2000s, it's probably closer to 2 decades at this point. 2009 was the year the number of books he was pumping out really exploded but I have severe doubts how involved he was during his more modest '5-6 books a year' period.

I think his entire career as a writer has been the same basic deal, he writes out a treatment and then hires somebody to finish it. but the books sell partially because their structure is basically machine-optimized - linear story, very short chapters, basically no subplot, simple characters

I think he only actually writes the Alex Cross series now. I’m pretty sure he does the plot outlines and editing after his collaborator (or ghost in the case of celeb co-authors) writes the first draft.
