A woman who worked at an IHOP for 13 YEARS was fired for serving a homeless man a stack of pancakes and a glass of water

#Wrongful #Termination?
Kindness should breed kindness … not spiteful retribution.
What have we become as a people?
What would corporate America do?
I rest my case.
Things must change.
Those pancakes cost next to nothing.
Good to know that IHOP has precious few pancakes but an abundance of $2 server-wage workers to choose from.
Get it to me ASAP!!!
Most workers in America have no protection from unpredictable, arbitrary or unfair termination from employment.
Good people who look out for each other.
Thank you for being human.
Respect.
So perhaps SOME good will come out of it.
Target didnt, they also donate to public television and didn’t roll back any DEI programs.
Looking at you, Home Depot and Lowe’s.
Good old tome expression - Trust arrives on foot and departs on horseback.
If she served him food and water on IHOPs dime, then they are correct to fire her.
Robin Hood actions are not legal in the real business world
““He stated to me and the host that he was hungry,” Hughes said. “Without a second thought, I bought the stack of pancakes and made him a water.””
I stand by my statements in general but they are clearly misplaced here. Thank you for pointing out my foolishness.
I'd advise she moves as far from there as possible. They seem to be intolerant when it comes to kindness and caring for fellow humans.
In other words, it was petty larceny. (It was also a case of "stolen valor", but that's a discussion for another day)
If SHE paid for them, it was a true act of charity.
“Without a second thought, I bought the stack of pancakes and made him a water.”
in other words, you're wrong. try knowing what you're talking about.

Is this how they allow the franchise owners to treat their employees?
Manager made a (wrong) decision. TV fixers reached out to corporate who (sure, nobody wants bad press) offered her the job back, plus a donation to a charity of her choice as well as a charitable donation they made.
Resolution.
Suppose they used this as an excuse to fire an underperforming employee, it would still be the worst imaginable excuse to fire someone.
"“He stated to me and the host that he was hungry,” Hughes said. “Without a second thought, I bought the stack of pancakes and made him a water.”"
I had a cafe employee get mad at me for getting my coffee refill to-go and then giving it to an unhoused gentleman. People suck.
It is an act of compassion!
"You can tell a person's character by the way they treat those that they do not have to treat well"
The Bible Belt states have the worst hunger problems! Especially child hunger
That would've been illegal in Britain, you cannot sack someone for no reason like that here.
The company would be in court in weeks for unlawful dismissal.
Are we going to officially recognize Donnie’s birthday with a mass every year like we did our last savior, Adolph?
Don will probably make Ashli Babbitt’s birthday or January 6th a Federal holiday to replace MLK Day.
But yes the system is fucked, particularly as concerns homelessness
An entire box of Aunt Jemima (with it you can make 100 pancakes) cost $4
The manager should be fired
So WTH, then?
Give her a raise !
It’s a good lesson for iHop.
On weekends, here, there is always a line waiting for a table for breakfast.
Just take it out of her paycheck if you're that stingey...
Why the firing?
“He stated to me and the host that he was hungry,” Hughes said. “Without a second thought, I bought the stack of pancakes and made him a water.”
