The corollary of “with great power comes great responsibility” is “with no power comes no responsibility” and what we’re discovering is that most of our institutions and leaders fear responsibility more than they want power, and will happily cede the latter to avoid the former

The adage came about to warn against using power with no responsibility, because that's what people were historically doing.
Institutions et al are abandoning their responsibilities, but still have power.
We don't see their powers within the deep state or spend much time assessing individual power.

I.e., in this case would follow "with no responsibility comes no power".
Reporting said that the primary sentiment among Senate Dems was "relief".
Because now there would be way less pressure to do anything!
