We're all having fun dunking on Paul Weiss (deservedly so). But the lawyer in me wonders what their real obligations are. They were extorted by an illegal EO into making dubious promises with (probably) no mechanism for oversight or compliance. What if they just ... didn't do anything?

Unfortunately, we are likely living in a terrible timeline, so I am not banking on this.
Paul Weiss knows what Pomerantz did, so they recognized it. And $40 million for a firm like PW is a drop in the bucket.
You can't minimize it!
I think there might be a legal term for this even, you know, one that is a crime.
Practicing law and abiding by someone trying to abolish the law as you know it is an interesting take.
“Just rule in my favor and you will get whatever you want and stay out of jail”
And I'm pretty sure holding what amounts to a gun to the head of a law firm counts as duress for ownership/management.

Nothing more. They’re not law.
I.E., if I work at Chili’s & my manager says “go pee in table 6’s margarita,” I know that’s wrong and illegal. No go.
We’d normally be able to report that manager, but SCOTUS gave him free rein so Mr. margarita pee gets to run the show? Wow.
People like Trump, Musk, Schumer, Durbin are all completely insulated from any effects of protests. It's not that world anymore. They almost feed off of it instead.
