What an absolute disgrace, @timemagazine.bsky.social. Shame on you for obeying in advance. May your subscriptions and readership sink to the bottom of this man’s level of depravity.
...another truly awful person who's been Person of the Year. People need to understand that this is not an "honor", it's just a statement of a person's level of influence in the world (agnostic of whether good or bad).
I suspect the only reason it wasn't Elon is because he was already POTY in 2021.
Trump is an unfit criminal & everyone knows it. Justice failed & we pay the price. 2024 Election needs investigation after Trump's 8 years of election crimes with Russia
The criminal, bully & conman, who wants to be the most popular boy, gets to have his wish come true because weak people feel compelled to fawn over him. It’s the grossest thing ever.

This has to be a joke. Really a rapist @timemagazine.bsky.social A rapist really? Man of the year. He wants your daughters. A RAPIST MAN OF THE YEAR. R.I.P USA.
With the disgusting news that Trump is going to be named Time Magazine's Person of the year, please keep in mind that Hitler, Stalin, Khrushchev, Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini and Putin was also chosen in the past.
We don’t have to imagine, just wait. Elon is only using him as a stepping stone to his own autocratic fantasy land. Don’t forget - Trump doesn’t actually have any money. He’s trading on political capital. It will run out, and he’ll be left out in the cold just like he did to Roy Cohn.
I know it's too much for some peoples' brains to handle, but this isn't an "honor", it's just a statement of the person's level of influence in the world (quite possibly BAD influence). From that perspective, it's a pretty appropriate choice.
We should note that being Time's Person of the Year does not mean you're a good person, or have done good deeds. Putin, Hitler and the Ayatollah Khomeini have also been named before.
Hitler received that Honor as well. I’ve never seen so many Ultra rich men and mega companies kiss the ass of a loser so much in only a month. I thought through history it was the peasants who always knelt first. Where are the real men and real leaders of America?
Just because he won the election doesn't make him right or justifiable.
Hitler was elected too. Does that give him mandate?
Jan 6 will forever be Trump's legacy and define who he is: an anti-democracy, dangerous dictator wannabe.
He’s an A-hole who should be in prison, not being celebrated. He’s a cheater. A grifter. A rapist. A close friend of Epstein’s. There is nothing good about this human. And the fact that TIME is celebrating him shows you it’s a sham magazine. Total BS.
You mean "bad company", but you're correct. All it means is that they think he's the most influential person in the year. That's NOT making a judgement of virtue. Some influential people like Hitler, Stalin, and Putin (all of whom have previously been POTY) are clearly awful just as he is.
It never bothered you that they'd previously picked Hitler, Stalin, and Putin!? I know this is too much for some people to handle, but saying that someone is a hugely influential person in the world is /not/ honoring them as being virtuous.
Oh, so now we have to constantly massage this man’s ego to keep him from throwing a tantrum? He deserves “Liar of the Year,” with runners-up Space Cadet Musk and Putin. Pathetic. This isn’t leadership, it’s a total farce.
They're totally different. The Nobel peace prize is intended to be a true honor and an endorsement of the recipient's virtue. No such intentions are attached to the choice of POTY.
It's easier to criticize the Nobel peace prize winners, because they imply a level of both virtue and influence and all of us have different ideas of what's virtuous. Also, the peace prize implies a belief in the person's influence over _future_ peace, which sometimes turns out to be _very_ wrong.
Why? What has he done? Lie about people eating cats and dogs? Nominating his cronies as cabinet members? Threaten to tank the US economy with Tariffs? What has he done to deserve "Person of the Year". If you are not wearing a Red Hat and believe he is perfect, what has he done
Well, Time Magazine also had Hitler, so I guess that's fitting. That magazine really is a joke. Guess they're spineless enough that they need to kiss the ring too. Pathetic.
I'm not surprised but 🤢.
He's going to say he deserved it, I'm going to say he earned it in the same manner as the likes of Krushchev, Nixon, Khomeini, Stalin and of course, that führer person
How can that be even remotely possible?!? On of the vilest persons on earth, a convicted felon and an obvious. What is wrong in America - now suddenly most people seems to support this?
IF it does happen, everyone cancel your subscriptions the day after it hits the newsstands. Tell everyone you know not to buy it either. Will be the most loss on a single issue.
I'm perplexed by why you'd've ever subscribed to start with if the agnosticism of POTY bothers you that much. It's far from the first time that someone truly awful has been chosen.
Oh I don't subscribe. Never have. Hope people cancel their subscription (if they have one) the day after this issue is released. To send a clear message we don't approve.
I think most people understand that POTY isn't an "honor", it's just a statement of a person's influence in the world (even if it's mostly bad). That's why previous winners include Hitler, Stalin, and Elon Musk. Canceling now would sort of be saying you didn't have any issue with /those/ choices.
No it would say we don't want tRUMP having any recognition at all. I don't care if it's turd of the month. Don't give him.any attention at all. That's what he loves. Attention whore.
Do you think Stalin or Hitler were any different in that regard?
They're not saying "We think this is a great person", they're saying "For better or worse, this person has had more influence on world events than anyone else this year". Historically, they've been dead on.
Hitler was man of the year in 1938, a year before the start of hostilities. I doubt he'd have been given such a title once he'd shown the world what he was capable of!
I get your point though about the awards history.
Right. In 1938, Hitler was approximately the same level of awful as Trump is now. Trump is also still on the "rising popularity" part of his trajectory just like Hitler was in the late 30s. Hopefully the similarities in their trajectories will diverge from there.
This makes me freaking sick to my stomach. He's getting what he wants. What is Time Magazine thinking? It's like the media is pushing us into and autocracy

That's hilarious.
"Prick of the year" absolutely!
I suspect the only reason it wasn't Elon is because he was already POTY in 2021.

“Real” Time cover? 😂
WTAF AMERICA?!
I know it's too much for some peoples' brains to handle, but this isn't an "honor", it's just a statement of the person's level of influence in the world (quite possibly BAD influence). From that perspective, it's a pretty appropriate choice.
huh? ...the new message to 2020s TV viewers...Crime DOES pay. Take everything you can get.
We are living in an upside-down world right now.

Perfect.
He's going to say he deserved it, I'm going to say he earned it in the same manner as the likes of Krushchev, Nixon, Khomeini, Stalin and of course, that führer person
Trump is a fascist of a new generation. Same shit, different decade.
They're not saying "We think this is a great person", they're saying "For better or worse, this person has had more influence on world events than anyone else this year". Historically, they've been dead on.
If I burned a mountain of magazines in a public square, I'd get arrested. I live in NY 😆
I get your point though about the awards history.
