Those people are lying. You don't accidentally apply for leadership jobs. You might find something unexpected (I was a deputy head of year then unexpectedly became a HOY suddenly due to illness) but you choose to go for it (I then actively applied for a permanent HOY position)

Yes all the way through. I remember being told ‘you’re just not ready’ or ‘you need to do more training’. I watched others have posts made for them, have less training and experience than me, progress quickly.
