The Neal Adams Uncanny X-Men issues are the ones I’m most familiar with from the early run. I’ve gotten so used to Adams’ work over the years but reading these in context really gives me a sense of how dramatic and new they must have felt at the time.

His storytelling is so dramatic and inventive, especially for that time.
Even at Marvel, his work stood out. And it was as much his page & panel designs as his more realistic, detailed style. His dynamic art was diff from Kirby, Buscema, Romita, etc.
Palmer has a strong style, yet he still manages not overwhelm but complements the penciller’s. Maybe because Adams’ & Colan’s styles are so strong.
(At least that's the way that he tells it-- so who knows! lol)
