Who said anything about resting? If a week is a long time in politics, 4 1/2 years is an eternity though. Starmer has a lot of work to do to make the economy work for people, but the world we next go to the polls in is going to look very different.
Reform have nailed their colours to the Trump mast. Trump will either be out of office or cemented as a dictator. The world will have seen what the populist right's agenda really means in practice. We're already at concentration camps and we're not a fortnight in.. Not saying we should be complacent

It's a good article but it's not written for the general public. I have a university degree and I am interested in languages, yet I encountered at least 2 words I wasn't sure I understood the meaning of and a French phrase I don't understand either. I see this all the time in the left leaning press.
There's no point in sharing this on Facebook, for example. I really loath to say this but it does feel like it's written by the elites for the elites. I'm not saying we should be massively dumbing down but if we want people to understand us, we have to speak more plainly- like Farage does...
Unfortunately I don't see much hope being inspired at the moment - unless Labour's current war on the environment is a ploy to gain some of the nasty people who currently support Reform.

Unless Labour starts to address the problems it should be addressing, that optimism is severely misplaced.
People won't care that Farage will dismantle the NHS. They'll just throw up their hands and say 'fuck it'.
