While I'm making everyone mad I might as well say I watched The Dark Knight with my kid last week and it doesn't hold up at all. The CGI is an abomination. And they needed to make it rated R if they were gonna make Joker actually scary.

It was also at least 45 minutes longer than it needed to be. I remember at one point I was sure it was the end of the movie, and then it… definitely was not.
I always felt like Batman Begins was easily the best of those three movies, TDK has some gangbusters setpieces, but overall it's just not as good of a complete movie as the first one
Because once those Hans Zimmer beats start, the critical side of my brain shuts down completely. All I have room for is the "DUH-NUH. DUH-NUH. Bzzzzzzzzz DUH-NUH. DUH-NUH."
It is pretty dumb at parts, though. Lady gets grabbed by the Joker, Batman shows up and fights the Joker and all his thugs, and she's still standing around in Joker-grabbing range a full minute later.
Book it down the hall, woman, no one's paying attention to you.
Interesting. The film didn't use or rely on much CGI. I think Two Face was CGI enhanced and a scene in Hong Kong. Those are the big ones that I can think of
While it is a tremendous performance, the plot of the movie doesn't make any sense if you think about it. This reinforces my long-held belief that thinking is a mistake.
This dude didn’t point out some flaws, he post about how two comic book movies are trash in every way. He’s absolutely free to not enjoy them. Personally, I don’t watch movies from genres I don’t enjoy because I’ll just spend the entire time ripping it apart in my head
His whole Batman trilogy is overrated. My unpopular take is that Nolan is also an overrated director. Some of his films are ok/entertaining but they do not deserve the praise they've received.
I think Nolan is a fantastic director and where he fails is in being able to write relatable human characters. No I e has any depth. They are two dimensional in most of his movies and he has a tin ear for dialogue as evidenced in Interstellar.
I would argue he doesn’t, and I also get im viewing this as a modern dad, but he fantasizes about the shop girl in his pool, he doesn’t tell his wife he spent a bunch of money on the down payment on a pool, he does every decoration under the guise of it being for the family, but it’s really for him
There's a great R-rated Joker vs. Harvey Dent movie: 1991's RIcochet, with John Lithgow as a psychotic mastermind hell-bent on ruining the life of a cop-turned-DA played by Denzel.
I've kind of spoiled it for you but I swear as Lithgow's plans get more elaborate and cruel you'll be thinking "This guy is just The Joker! This is Joker behavior." Pulpy fun, should be in the broader conversation of 90's good-bad movies.
FINALLY someone that agrees. Every time I bring this up, people act as though I grew a second head.
If I wanted to watch a movie where the characters constantly impart poetic life lessons as actual dialogue to put me to sleep, I'd watch Romeo and Juliet.
There are parts of Dark Knight where Joker kills someone and you don't even know it because they can't show it because the movie was PG-13. It was terribly made.
I think it’s still a “well made” movie but I agree the studio refusing to make an r rated super hero movie holds back the ability of the story to function well
i think i like at least one of those movies more than you, but we sure do agree on this point. i thought he was bad as batman and as bruce wayne. just a total miss.
With the benefit of hindsight, each one is at least interested in being a movie (as opposed to winking at/pandering to fans and breadcrumbing some future sequel). But that doesn't mean they're GOOD movies.

Also it's shot really well.

If you don't like superheroes or simple good v evil just say that because I hate to break it to you all superhero movies follow this.
Most of that movie was practical effects shots.
The Dark Knight is overrated horse shit. FIGHT ME

If you dig though it does fall apart.
But the Twilight guy was the worst Batman yet 😵💫
