Am i in the middle of a culture shift right now where uptown girl is somehow creepy? is this like those victorian pictures that were supposed to be endeering but look creepy to us now except its happening in my lifetime already?
of course i know that. what i mean is that people dont experience these shifts in their lifetimes. People who grew up taking pictures with dead relatives dont live long enough to see that becoming creepy because the shift is too slow. but uptown girl was campy and fun like yesterday!
Think it is more of a case where a person whose knowledge of these songs is through other media, might come across cases where these songs are used ironically, like a horror film and it probably colors they perspective on it entirely. I wouldn't be surprised if it already exists with this song even.
