I was gonna say! Like the machine exists, and must be used at least occasionally, but I can split that with an axe in a quarter of the time (and I'm middle aged with bad joints and a ruined back).
My house uses wood heat so I'll pretend I'm an expert:
I actually approve of the splitting setup but ive never split a log half the diameter of that thing. The danger here is trying to wrestle a stump that weighs more than him. A 2 foot diameter log is plenty big enough
It's tradition to have a machine without any protection what so ever! This is how his grandfather got horrifically injured, his father got horrifically injured, how he will get horrifically injured and how he hopes his son will get horrifically injured!
One other dude would speed this up and save money. And by "dude," I don't care if it's a guy or a girl. One extra body to maneuver that wood and clear the scrap.
Lots of jobs used to be two people where you could work at a steady safe pace, but then dudes like this will come along and claim they can do it better by themselves because 75% of their time is spent doing smaller pieces.
Yeah, it's sad. I grew up with handymen. Most will tell you when a job is two-person, and they'll stand by it. And if they're contractors and you say, "I think you can do it with one person," they'll peace out. No one wants to deal with a work-related injury.
One of the guiding principles of my life is to keep my junk at least two feet away from both axe blades and industrial pistons, but this man follows a different path.
Or even just machine like this where you have to pull a lever/push a button/step on a pedal to get it to activate ONCE, not treating it like it's a video game obstacle you have to time exactly.

Whereas manhandling a heavy cross section into an awkwar chopping position isn't I guess.
