Unfortunately you´re right. And about autism, it´s simply diagnosed more often now, my brother eventually had/has it, he´ll turn 60 in December, he was sitting at his desk all the time, never went outside to meet with friends. But he´s never been diagnosed with autism.
So true! More awareness will raise the numbers because we know more about it. It's not making the problem grow; it is illuminating the problem that has been existing.
My 50+ year old son. I
knew something wrong from the time he was a toddler. Therapist suggested I be firmer with him; as if that works. Back then it was "there's something not right about that kid". As an adult, on appropriate medication & highly functioning adult.
Iron lung prices will skyrocket, the machines won’t be covered under any plan, will cost more than a new car and don’t be late on your electric bill or they’ll cut power off.
it couldn't be industrial toxins or frequency manipulations or glysophates or the poison in our foods, air, water, or maybe it was the lead they caught china putting in our toys and lipstick a bunch of years back ?????
He is just looking for any reason to thank himself! It is his daily dose of self administrated TLC for calming his egocentric narcissistic low self-esteem 🤮
Did you already know before hand or was it kind of a revelation?
For me I spent my entire life just being depressed and feeling like an alien. I never considered it until a few years ago when I found out. So much makes sense now and I wish I would have been diagnosed much younger. I'm 40 now.
I knew I was ADD, but I never suspected it was part of something bigger. I had heard people talk about Asperger’s Syndrome but really had no idea what it was. Being diagnosed with Autism was a life changing experience. It answered questions I had never thought to ask before.
As a toddler I rarely cried and never babbled. The pediatrician thought I might be hard of hearing or just “slow”. When I did start talking, it came out in paragraphs, and it turned out I had already taught myself to read. The doctor shook his head and told my mother “never mind, he’s fine.”
I knew a daycare kiddo like that, ~3 years old. Smart. When he did decide to talk, it was complete sentences. When asked why he didn’t talk before, he said, “I didn’t have anything to say.” 🤭
We're about the same age. I remember the first time I'd ever heard of autism was from a movie that came out in the late 70s. Everyone thought that all autistic people were nonverbal, plate-spinning, and stuck inside their own heads. I think this was still pretty much the case even just 20 years ago.
I had heard the term “idiot savant” tossed around, but have no memory of the word autism until the movie Rain Man was released. Years later I was a struggling single father in my 40s when my parents read a list of Asperger’s Syndrome traits and everything started clicking. My friends all said “duh”.
My parents had me evaluated for ADHD in highschool, but were told that I was "totally normal" because all the diagnostic criteria were built around boys, and I was really good at masking. Come to find out that we also have Autism in our family. 🤷🏻♀️
It can be hard for nonautistic people to understand that speaking autistics are just as autistic as nonverbal people. Our thought processes & senses are autistic. It just looks different in each individual. Some autistic people have periods of nonspeaking. It’s less of a firm line than people think.
I describe autism as playing a high stakes game of poker, but all of your cards are from an UNO deck, and the dealer won’t explain to you why the hands you play are against the rules.
when I was younger my parents would refer to it as "clamming up" we never knew it was Autism. But anytime I get stressed or it's just too much. I go non-verbal. I would often get in trouble because they assumed I was just refusing to speak. But in reality my brain just cant put words together.
All of which is to say: Yes, you’re right, the understanding of autism has changed a lot, and is still changing. In the past, someone like me wouldn’t get a diagnosis because I didn’t fit the image of “autistic,” which was nonspeaking, intellectually disabled, & (crucially) male.
I'm 70 myself and definitely hyper as a kid. I always scored in the top percentage on the national tests but barely got through school. My sister has her masters in education says today they would have had committees to study me and labelled me holding me back. A 30 year police career later. Hmmm.
Girls are “expected” to be quiet and reserved in class. No one thought to ask my daughter why she was terrified to speak up. In one high school class she pretended to be a Russian exchange student to keep from being called on. The teacher never suspected otherwise. She had the accent nailed.
Exactly. So now we’re finally starting to get younger girls diagnosed. And women are now realizing they have the symptoms so they get checked and diagnosed. Therefore, the numbers go up. The idiocy of the American dictator knows no bounds.
I'm over 70. Thinking back... I remember many people that were socially awkward and had the symptoms of what we now generally consider "on the spectrum".
So I consider this "fact" as BS. Autism was not well known back then, therefore the count was very low. They were just considered "Odd".
I grew up in a midsize town. Special needs children did not go to school. There were no special classes. Downs children were rarely in public. Many people did not have TV. Some had radio. The pace was slower. Children pulled out of school & no required to return.
Just because they were not in public doesn't mean they did not exist. Children pulled from school stayed at home & family tried to get them quiet jobs. Some were in care centers (pre 1980s) or juvenile facilities.
Exactly, I'm old enough to remember the time "before" autism, and there was always a few kids that were "odd" that I'm sure would be considered austic today. And I assume the worst of them weren't in school but in institutions
BS. They blame vaccinations. Answer me this. When vaccines came out the entire elementary & sometimes the entire K-12 got them. Millions of kids, all within a few months got them time & time again. Little autism among boomer kids. Why? If it was vaccines autism would be rife among Millennials
When a stupid person doesnt understand that a rise in rates correlates to a better understanding of a condition. And its why we are seeing a huge rise in adult autism diagnosis. Those people were likely always autistic. The tools and understanding to diagnose them was what was lacking.
I’m certain my Grandfather was on the spectrum. He was odd+brilliant. His mom died of TB+he nearly died of it ~1909.Did med school in 3 years+dedicated his life to studying it. Found it can live 30 yrs on surfaces. Developed the culture medium to study it+
+the skin test to detect it.
Avoided 👇🏽
eye contact. Very socially awkward. Had medical books+periodicals stacked up in his bedroom lining a path to his bed. Built his own lab next to his house to continue research on pulmonary diseases.
And these people were probably misdiagnosed and mistreated previously. But how can we explain this in stupid terms to the moron and his ilk? Oh let’s all go back to the 19th century 🙄
It's called advancing scientific knowledge and educating physicians. How to notice it and how to diagnose it is now more advanced. That's all, Donold. Science moved forward. Sorry you didn't.
There is a lot wrong. Corporations are still dumping chemicals in our water supply and the FDA and EPA turn a blind eye because they aren't acutely toxic. Meanwhile we're all bickering about the basic humanity of trans people instead of using it as a rallying cry to hold them accountable.

Yeah, every time I see one of these, "there didn't used to be so many [fill in the person/condition the poster doesn't like] back in the old days" I think about the "spike" in left-handedness after we stopped forcing kids to write right-handed.
Diagnostic criteria has also changed. I had kids in the early 90s and I have a kid now. Not only has awareness become greater early intervention has become the norm.
When I was a child they Saw me as a problem child. The state kept me at a home where they beat our problems out of us. As a grown man i have been diagnosed with autism. So i got beat up as a child for having autism. That’s why no one told anyone that they were different back in the day
It's also interesting how they use autism both as their bs reason to attack vaccines and the defense against Elon's racist actions. Just another example of the wild double standards that run rampant.
The number has increased dramatically since you got into politics. Children subjected to listening to your incoherent nonsense may be to blame. Perhaps get out of politics and see if the trend reverses. You know in the name of science.
Yeah, we need a quack with a worm eaten brain who relies on conspiracy theories and debunked scientific myths to reach conclusions about health matters.
20 years ago we could only joke about electing a FELON and sexual predator as President because it was so far from believable and just common sense! NO ONE WOULD PUT RFK Jr. and his worm in charge of ANYTHING or ANYONE!
Historically, autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnoses were predominantly based on studies of males. Recent research indicates that females exhibit both similar and distinct traits, leading to increased recognition and diagnoses. Enhanced understanding has resulted in more identified cases overall.
I believe society has just fallen into the need to label these children, not that they are autistic. These are children that aren't allowed to run, play, explore, exercise, be kids. I raised mine, am now raising traumatized grandchildren. I can't believe how many people want them medicated! Sad!
I wonder if Melania has some input on this. And does she have a secret little door in the back of her closet where she keeps her secret communication device?
And how TF has she refrained from smothering him in his sleep??? I mean... 🤢🤮
When you see off the rails punctuation and insults, it's usually Cheung. He was hired specifically in part to mimic donald's style (manic and semi-literate) in his posts.
People have been getting vaccinated since the first vaccine was developed in 1796. Autism was first diagnosed in 1943. Only 1% of people in the world are diagnosed with autism. Billions of people get vaccinated. You do the math.
The study strongly supports that MMR vaccination does not increase the risk for autism, does not trigger autism in susceptible children, and is not associated with clustering of autism cases after vaccination. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30831578/
I have 5 kids NONE of my kids have autism all are fully vaccinated, with all 5 coved 19 shots not only do they not have autism but they are still alive never had Polio, never had measles and still alive after getting Coved and not having to go to the hospital they want to kill our children.
Well his press secretary DID say that fentanyl deaths were now in the tens of millions. I mean I can’t go to the grocery store without my cart hitting a body on the floor from fentanyl obviously with THOSE numbers, not the already tragic enough 100,000 that statistics have born out over and over.
Starting a “Yes coz” trend ….#2 if you have brucellosis from unpasteurized milk & your heart’s take a hit from it …you also won’t care about the autism either…..
So many others to choose from - and that’s just very sad.
We don’t even need the 25th. Per the 14th, he wasn’t even eligible to hold office. The last Congress made a serious mistake allowing it and the Supreme Court gave him a pass bc they’ve been bought by rich republican “donors”.
At this point, heaven may be the only hope. Leadership is AWOL, media is complicit, and the unelected are on a ketamine fuelled orgy of destruction. I'm an atheist.
How does a physician vote for this anti medical science idiot who will destroy American’s pandemic response capabilities. Kennedy said he REGRETS his kids were vaccinated against deadly diseases.
Research will be stunted+vaccines not approved. Covid would have killed millions more w/o vaccine. 😓🤯🤬
Since our government doesn’t want to inform us about the upcoming pandemic, I’m pleading g with Canada to give us access to their information on how to keep safe from the bird flu
FYI yesterday it was reported that 100’s of dead ducks have been found on the shores of Lake Michigan around Chicago
I have seen posts from Canada encouraging US citizens to use their health sites for information. (I am certain it is mercenary, they would like us to stay healthy south of their border and not bring anything north to infect them.)
Well, duhhhh....I sure as hell wouldn't let them in. It's not only highly dangerous from a health perspective, it also acts as an IQ and ethical indicator of the person in question. No damn WAY would I let someone as ignorant, selfish and mean spirited into MY country if the situation was reversed 🤷
All this talk of Senator Cassidy being a doctor, and therefore the only hope to keep RFK out of HHS, is way off the mark. Doctors are not somehow immune to stupidity. Anyone who has ever seriously listened to Cassidy in a HELP committee hearing would not hold out much hope. That is all.
Shooting heroine for years does not qualify as a Doctor of medicine… just sayin’, because you can find a good vein to shoot up doesn’t mean you know how vaccines work or give any credibility to your outlandish ill informed drug addled nonsense… drug addicts boosting other drug addicts… SMH.
His numbers is bullshit. It has never ever been 1/10 000. What has happened is that diagnosis of being on the spectrum has changed. Not the amount of people being on the spectrum. He himself is on it. And anyone with a little bit of intelligence would see trough these lies.
Debunked conspiracy theories from the demented despicable traitor felon in the White House 😡 who loves polio and his unfit anti-vax nominee, and detests children’s cancer research. The liar lacks intelligence, has no idea re. medical science’s research and advancements… so he cheers the dismantling
Or measles or diphtheria or mumps or pertussis or typhoid etc. I hope republicans suffer for their stupidity. Nothing would make me happier than Trump, musk and Kennedy spending the rest of their lives in iron lungs
I agree. Also, no one talks about the chemicals the U.S. food industry puts in children’s mouths and in the general population’s food—chemicals that are “banned in Europe.” Obesity rates, chronic diseases… How Big Pharma treats symptoms but not the cause, as it is not profitable. SO, vaccines Haaaa.
Gosh, it couldn’t have anything to do with carcinogens in the air and water (I don’t know but anything is possible), genetic mutation…? Too bad a medical professional, who doesn’t have brain worms or a brain fried from herion, could present scientific data
Well everybody that's over 50 should be completely fucked up by now due to the vaccines they had to take as children. These people that are anti-vax we're vaccinated as children. The reason they're fucked up is because they are fucked up people not because of vaccines
I hate to say, but when I was growing up, we "othered" the kids that we now know as on the spectrum. They were here, they just were not diagnosed and treated as outcasts. 🫤
My son is one. Bullied by teachers+students. He was taught he is worthless. I was told he was a ‘just a lazy student’. He read college level science books on eusocial insects in 4th grade, but couldn’t perform like they wanted in school. Dropped out at 16.
5 others in family on spectrum.
Again, from this idiot's tweet alone, do not abolish the Dept of Education. We have a fucking moron as president. All of my kids were vaccinated, none have autism. None have had polio, measles, or rubella either.
He wants to abolish the Department of Education because he thinks it gives all its Title I money to "inner city" schools. Nah, a lot of it goes to rural schools in red states, but red state congresspeople need to convince him of that.
I'm a healthy 76 y/o. In the early 1950s, we received vaccinations either before the school year began or at school. I served in the U.S. military. When I enter military service in 1967, you got vaccinated PERIOD. I've been vaccinated so many times over my lifetime, I can't even count.
I'm old enough to remember being lined up at school in our little undershirts, and all of us, every kid in the school, getting vaccinated. Everyone I personally know from childhood is vaccinated, and very few of them are autistic, very few. It's such a farce to think this connection even exists.
Exactly. I don’t know if anyone in my immediate or extended family, my classmates or friends who are not vaccinated and not one of them are autistic. Could it be a lazy diagnosis for genetic condition?
I honestly think any increase in autism can probably be attributed to people who have autism getting to have relationships and babies more often vs being denied that for reasons ranging from social to forcing.
Particularly associative mating in areas with jobs that might attract people with autism.
(I will say I find it doubtful there's actually that much of an increase to begin with versus just more awareness and diagnosis, but if there is an increase it's probably just due to plain old birds and the bees rather than environmental influences.)
My kids are 28 & 22, were fully vaccinated and are nice, average adults...work, school, social life. We just joke that our idiosyncrasies are a light form of autism. Everyone we meet/know has idiosyncrasies... some just more than others. I know and love quite a few people dx on the scale.
Same. My sister and I were 70s kids. We received all of the mandatory vaccines back then in elementary school. We’re in our 50s now and just fine. We also got 4 Covid vaccines in 2021/22. Vaccines work.
With Elon Musk threatening to acquire Substack and Bluesky, the DNC should leverage its communication tools to directly promote independent pro-democracy journalism. DNC members can directly counter efforts to silence those who disagree with Trump/Musk/Project 2025/FASCISM.
Does this friggin idiot not realise the autism spectrum now includes many conditions that weren't previously included? He's so simple minded in ALL things requiring critical thinking skills. It's like he has an average IQ or something. Oh wait, he does!
Boomers will say shit like “we didn’t have all this autistic crap back in my day” and then proceed to describe a friend growing up who was “really quiet, kind of a strange bird but really really good at math” hmmmmm
I guess he doesn't understand how learning works. The numbers go up when you learn what to look for and get better at diagnosing and understanding how wide the range is
Not only that, I remember 40+years ago what today would be severe autism was the only diagnosis back then. Also, we are exposed to so much more environmental contaminants now, such as microplastics that no one really knows why it happens to begin with
Absolutely. They have studies on vaccines causing autism and have never found a connection but I guess idiots decide what they believe and can be bothered learning or admitting their wrong.
The one study the anti vaxxers swear as gospel was done on 12 kids and was so biased and horribly done that he permanently lost his medical license. It's been totally debunked and there's zero connection between vaccines and autism!
Fun fact: Australia only started to exist in the 17th century, when a white man finally discovered it and it miraculously popped onto the map. Before that: zero Australias.
Autism is not a disease. It's a state of being. We see it more now because our eyes are mire open now. Blaming it on vaccines is easier than blaming it on parents, both of which are dead wrong. Look closer, there is greatness on the spectrum.
Fucking Moron Trump Hiring Another Fucking Anti-Vaccination Unqualified No Medical Experience Moron RFKJR!!
RFKJr If Walking Passed Parents With Baby —Tells Them Not To Vaccinate Their Children!! —But Vaccinated His Own Kids!!
Trump will be going after the left handed people next to get their numbers back down below the baseline. Honestly, the combination of ignorance and casual hatred makes me want to vomit! 🤮
"If we don't Test, we won't have COVID cases" ... same stupid illogic.. I was born with Autism, Institutionalized with it in the 1960's... they had no fucking clue what or who I was. They wanted to give me a pre- frontal lobotomy. Science has gotten better since then
🤣 there weren’t definitive tests decades ago.. they put kids and adults in institutions back in the day saying they were crazy amongst other things. Autism was always around but now we are able to test people of all ages for it! He’s an idiot!
You can "have" an illness. Autism is not a disease but a state of expanded perception. So you don't "have" autism, you "are" autistic.
And absolutely yes; The spectrum is wider than thought.
Language matters!
Autism has always existed. We now recognise it for what it is. Neurodiversity. Someone, please tell Donny that Mozart, Einstein, and most of our brilliant people are on the spectrum.
Hint! You're not Donnie. You are just a sociopathic fascist.
Or Grandpa that screamed at grandma for dinner being 5 minutes late and then retreated to his basement to play with his model trains and could recite all the major lines and their schedules...
It’s hardly even worth the energy needed to type a reply, Donnie golf is a f ing evil drama queen who doesn’t know shit about just about everything, someone should look into his “mental situation”
Yeah, because, in addition to picking grossly false statistics to emphasize a bad point, it's not like we haven't improved diagnostic criteria and understanding of the condition in the interim. FFS, folks.
My grandmother had polio and in the 60’s my mother made sure we wouldn’t contact it so we all got vaccinated. My poor grandma lived during no ADA laws and she was a pistol. You did not want to fuck with her. She would have beat you over the head with one of her crutches. Loved that mean lady!!!!
My son is autistic...when we had him tested, over 20 years ago...the only reason why we knew about autism was because of the movie Rain Man.....Thanks to better testing and better awareness we are able to get more and more people diagnosed. I also have a nephew and a friend with autism.
Had a friend who didn't immunize her first son. He got polio. Butchy never lived with them after that. He was a strong healthy kid until then. His body was never the same again. Vaccines kept her other children safe. They are important and JFK Jr is nuts.
Scientific American March 3, 2017. "The real reasons autism rates are up in the US." The answer is mainly, we are looking for it. Second, changes in criteria.
The number in 2000 is a lie. But these later numbers are a good thing; they mean we are getting better at identifying autistic kids who are already here, but who were getting overlooked in the past. These kids can now get help.
What about GMOs? Chemical additives in our food? Indoor air quality from natural gas and furniture off-gassing? Pesticides and fertilizers? So many things in our modern world could cause autism besides vaccines
“The prevalence of autism in the US has risen steadily since researchers first began tracking in 2000. The rise in the rate has sparked fears of an autism ‘epidemic.’ But experts say the bulk of the increase stems from a growing awareness of autism & changes to the condition’s diagnostic criteria.”
We have better diagnostics and diagnosticians than ever before. Also, you cannot forget the big Pharma aspect in regards to medication‘s prescribed. Where is the incentive (obviously I’m not talking about families living with this), for there to be an eradication of either of these diagnoses?
My nephew diag. in early 90s. Currently I have an 8 yo non-verbal grandson. The reason you didn't hear about it as much in the past is parents were told to institutionalize them. Everything they bitch about is because we EVOLVED.
The conspiracy addled science denying idiots can't fathom that the analysis and evaluation of certain behaviors has evolved to the point where kids are not being misdiagnosed as "problem children" anymore 🙄
It's called DIAGNOSIS and AWARENESS. It's a neurotype, asshole, you're not going to get rid of it. SMFH, anti-vaxxers and bigots are the absolute worst, and this administration is strictly BOTH.
It’s always been there but now it’s actually diagnosed and we know what it is and we know how to identify it. I swear my brothers are on the spectrum and they just said they were hyperactive and they drugged them up.
Perhaps RFK Jr. could compare ratios of children being shot to death by guns from years ago to today where bullets are the leading cause of death in some children and teenage groups. The ubiquitous "thoughts and prayers" don't count as measures to lessen gun violence nor does fortifying schools.
There was far less emphasis on children's mental health from when autism was first diagnosed to our more advanced medicine today. The current ratio is 1 in 36.
Perhaps in the "olden days" a child with autism were labelled as "slow" or some other description but not tied to a recognized disorder.
As a GenX (who’s AuDHD) we were threatened by the belt and told to be seen and not heard. How the fuck do you think we would get diagnosed when our own families shut us down because having a child with a disorder was a disgrace. You weren’t allowed to talk about mental health. WEREN’T ALLOWED!
This seeped through to some of us millennials as well. Dealing with mental health was thought of as whining, making excuses, or being selfish. Counseling was made to be seen as a moneymaker for counselors and of little value.
It saddens me that my gen wasn’t the last to be part of this mental abuse. I hated my parents for years over this, but realized it wasn’t their fault. It was the 70’s-80’s and rural WV. Even as a kid we made fun of other kids with disabilities. It was how we were raised and it wasn’t right.
Just think on the hereditary aspect. The fear people werd filled with to erase it bc it could bring them harm. That’s all coming back. I grew up undiagnosed and thinking I was malfunctioning or bad. It was stressful. I still haven’t gotten a diagnosis out of fear of institutionalization or abuse.
The majority of us didn't pick him. Only 1/3 of Americans voted for him. Sadly, too many didn't vote or their votes weren't counted. Had they not suppressed so many, she would have won in a landslide.
So, that's an internal issue, bottom line is he represents your country and we don't want anything to do with it. Let that sink in, a Canadian who spent 7 months in Wisconsin, 3 summers in New England, lots of time in Florida and countless weekends in Buffalo. Done, never again
So, what would you do? As a normal everyday citizen who did not vote for this and is watching her country crumble. What would you do? I have called my senators, I have emailed... I still have to work to feed my family and pay my mortgage. Seriously. What would you have us do?
I understand your view, truly, I just wanted it known that WE didn't choose this. It is definitely an internal issue and I hope every country fights against him.
You know, I understand " not all Americans ", but would you make that distinction if your strongest trading partner came after your country, your livelihood? I think not
When your so stupid that don’t know that diagnostics (of autism)have improved greatly in 20 years, or that the vaccines have improved and those kids 20 years ago had the same vaccines.
Look at the number of adults who have gotten diagnosed in adulthood because they were missed as kids who would have benefited so much for a reason why they were different other than "I'm a freak" autism isn't increasing we're just learning more criteria and catching more cases
Autism has been around for who knows how long. It just wasn't diagnosed, which is still difficult to do. How many 'special ed' kids from my elementary school back in the 60s were autistic?
In the 60s and 70s, it seemed boys who couldn't follow rules, sit still etc. Lots of smacks from the steel ruler Sister Mary Ellen walked around with. Oh, and in the 60s us southpaws were smacked for holding the pencil with the wrong grip. It only took three smacks as a 6 year old to get it!
They did that to my father also, he was born in 1918. Lefties were looked upon as either witches or warlocks. After years of writing the way I was forced to, one day I was rushing and hooked my hand over and never went back. My handwriting had also been atrocious and suddenly it was decent. Crazy!
this is interesting: I play pool left handed. I'm a righty in every other way. I theorized that it's because my left handed brother taught me how to play, or the game engages the right side of my brain.
i worked with a doctor who had had that done to him. Was on him about his writing all the time.
Funny! my brother Pete taught me to shoot pool so I do that right handed, my brother Marty was a southpaw like me and taught me to bat left handed. I DO have two left feet and believe me that is a thing!
My dad was "stupid" and "a bad speller" in the 60s... nope, heavily dyslexic. He's had his own accountancy practice for over 40 years - he's incredibly bright.
I don't think schools wanted to deal with dyslexia in the 1960's. I don't know that they do now. Anything that requires specialist help and costs money, they try to avoid.
My sister's husband could hardly read either, but had a successful business fixing boats and yachts in Hawaii. He spent his young years in construction, and then started his own business and did great. We're so proud of him, but sadly, he died of MS.
My sister is so smart and got beat on the hands with rulers by nuns for dyslexia symptoms. It is horrifying they ignore this history and how significant progress and better information has improved countless lives.
She has worked as a paraeducator with special needs kids and been a CASA volunteer. She turned her childhood experiences into fuel to help kids with compassion, love and humor. She is one of my heroes.
I've got Post grad qualifications and taught English for 20 years, but can't tie shoelaces, and have heaps of other ridiculous, 'Brain, just WTF?!' stuff on a daily basis.
Makes more sense now I know I have dyspraxia, hypermobility & ADHD (& awaiting Autism assessment).
I was just 'clumsy & quirky'.
Autism is genetic, autism is sexy, thus there will be a lot of autistic people. I'm well aware the reason is because better diagnosing tools, but i like to pretend it's because we're getting laid more.
Vaccines do not cause autism. This lie has been debunked countless times, all the evidence to back this statement is available to anyone.
Also, autism is not bad, diagnosing it more is good news. It means we’re better at diagnosis, have better understanding, care, support & awareness in society.
"Conclusions
Increases could be due to growth in prevalence or, more likely, increased reporting and application of diagnosis. Rising diagnosis among adults, females and higher functioning individuals suggest augmented recognition underpins these changes."
Maybe it is all the environmental and plastic pollution along with the scientific knowledge of how to identify the spectrum and autism. When you know nothing about science or medicine how anything works it's all a giant mystery to you and you don't understand the entire process of science medicine
I'd like to see Bobby change the American diet. 🤣 oh, and I have this theory that algorithms and screens are re-wiring our brain chemistry. But keep developing AI and dehumanise us all the more.
Once upon a time we prescribed cocaine and bleeding for basic ailments. I don't think looking to the past is the right way to decide on our medical policies, unless you're looking for what not to do.
People need to listen to Sawbones and really understand how ridiculous medical history is.
Suspect this is true. Possibly also somewhat increased by the earning power of computer geeks who probably would not have had girlfriends in previous generations and therefore not reproduced.
If those statistics are accurate (which I question), I know for a fact that the increase in diagnosises is due to children being assessed and addressed earlier. autism was barely acknowledged and not treated when I was young.
