Dodgers utilityman Kiké Hernández took to Instagram on Saturday to express his support for immigrants and decry the recent militarized raids in the city by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

As a lifelong fan, I haven’t been comfortable wearing my hat since the White House visit. Roberts & others yukking it up at Trump’s unfunny “jokes” was so gross. But Shohei taking the extra step of hanging out in the Oval Office was just outrageous. Kudos to Kiké for maintaining some dignity though.
Even a guy whose first name is an antisemitic slur understand the assignment (yes, I know that's not how it's pronounced or what it means--it's a joke people)
This man expresses himself with more humanity, empathy and intelligence than the so-called elected leader of what was until January, the greatest and most powerful nation on Earth.
A mere 6 months later we are poorer, weaker, less trusted by our former allies and more ridiculed by enemies
You went to the White House to kiss Trump's feet. Is this statement just a stunt to make sure your jerseys sell? Wishy-washy on your morals there kike.
The only sports clubs in L.A. that have had the decency to stand up and speak out for Angelino's has been LAFC and Angel City Football Club. Shame on these other sporting clubs that have strong Latino fan bases. Especially the Dodgers.
Bravo Kiki…this SF fan has always thought you a clutch player & a joy to watch…& of course you & every single immigrant is a welcome addition to our golden State…but, still…

"THEY" probably won't go so far as deporting Kike, but I expect he's on the list now for an in depth IRS audit. (He's available in my Baseball Roto league - I may pick him up now just because of what he said.)
Where are the other athletes around the country? What are they afraid of? Team owners impacting free speech? Worried their MAGA fans will boycott. Most of the time the right thing is so much more important than the safe thing.
Thank you, as a huge fan of baseball, it’s good to see someone finally stepping up to the plate for immigrants and people of color!! Love you man 👊👏👏💙💙
Disgraceful the Dodgers haven’t done the same. I get they may not want to rock the boat with LE but there’s definitely a way you can show support for the Latino community in LA - a large portion of which are strong supporters of the Dodgers. Fernando would be disgusted by the Dodgers’ silence.
Why did you put that accent mark on Kike's nickname? Kike is for Enrique, and the accent falls on the first syllable. It's not a free-for-all, carnales.
“Teams started using an accent to avoid controversy,” Hernandez said. “I don’t mind it. It’s in Spanish. If you don’t read it in Spanish, it can be offensive.”
He should be one of hundreds speaking out Agatha’s use of military force on these immigrants. I hate to see this abuse. These people are important and matter in every community across the nation.
Brave AF of him because the militia Gustapo does not GAF about his employment or status just his color and bravery. Keep eyes on Kyle people PLEASE he is now a target for quotas by gangs of proud boys.
Only the legal sense. Puerto ricans have their own national identity That separates them from the typical American. Also Puerto Rico is literally the most pro immigrant place in the us. a 2017 Poll found 86% supported Municipalities increasing protections for undocumented immigrants
This is not unusual. In Puerto Rico support for immigrants is Insanely high. So much so even the most far right conservative politician has to run on a pro immigrant platform otherwise they have No chance in hell of winning an election
Maybe he hasn't said anything about the current govt abuses, but the Dodger pitcher Graterol, from Venezuela, did boycott the team's whitehouse visit. So that's two that have a backbone....
Very glad that he did. Meanwhile, the Dodger front office forced their players to go to the White House visit after Trump & his ilk disrespected Jackie Robinson’s legacy, & are now staying silent about the ICE raids. Think it’s a bit obvious who the executives are supporting, & it’s not the players
He went to the White House, like the rest of the team. There’s already been a trump administration and this one is significantly worse. They knew better.
He may be the 1st Dodger to speak up, but what he says is pretty generic. It appears as if he doesn't want to specifically point the finger at ICE & the WH authoritarian regime. But at least it's a start & maybe more foreign-born athletes will speak up & be more condemning.

This is our team. the team of Jackie Robinson.
That visit to the White House looks even more depraved now.
There's more to life than corporate ownership of a baseball team.
This is LA -- grow a spine Dodgers.
People need to accept the fact that this is the world. Move on and live and let live.
A mere 6 months later we are poorer, weaker, less trusted by our former allies and more ridiculed by enemies
It's such a shame that trump and his goons are this cruel.

Much-loved player here. Kudos to him.
More Dodgers need to do the same.
As trump continues to terrorize Los Angeles...
the Dodgers need to apologize to their city & fan base for visiting that racist rapist at the White House.
They shoulda known better after what he did to Jackie Robinson.
