I get that the Rhinoceros Party is a satirical party and draws attention to real frustrations some have with our system. Other people probably think trolling Poilievre is funny
But these kinds of stunts are anti-democratic and present real accessibility issues for voters:

Ballot design released. This is quite the specimen! 👀

Rebel "News" disrupted post-debate scrums and this group is interfering with our election.
We need build resilience into Elections Canada's oversight rules so it can identify and shut down bad-faith efforts like these.
It is A STUNT - and in this election, in this riding in particular - it is harmful to democratic process.
This ridiculous ballot poses significant accessibility barriers to voters.
We point out it’s an inappropriate conflict of interest when MPs are in charge of election rules, and some people would prefer that message had no platform
Electoral boundaries are set by independent commissions - not policians - and elections are run by Elections Canada who do a very good job.
MPs should pass election law to a permanent, independent, nonpartisan body (like a citizens’ assembly) to decide.
You are miserable losers. And I mean every single one of these people who allowed their names on the ballot.
Go to jail, now!
Buddy, first of all, none of what they're doing is illegal.
Second, you need to take a deep breath. It's a valid form of protest against an electoral system that fails to effectively represent it's voters.
Please explain
Plus the 2023 Toronto Mayoral ballot had over 100 candidates and zero issues whatsoever.
This is not a phrase social justice initiatives use to judge their own work
You seriously want to help people?
Then be certain after your efforts that everybody is fine
No "should be"
If your efforts do not leave the people you r trying to help whole afterwards, you have failed
This will obviously overwhelm and confuse many elderly voters. It will also create totally unnecessary issues for people with disabilities
There are no rules against it so they ALL do it.
(I'm not sure there's a rule about having to live in Canada so long as you're a citizen)
And yes I know it would affect people like Carney. I didn’t stutter.
So people can download them and print them off and if need be, ask a friend to circle their preferred candidate
Hope you & others ask EC too.
That's a pretty rightward skew.

I think no ward elected = lack of accountability to community.
Not sure who benefits with free floating councillors.
It’s a job to assess them all come election time.
(also, like, Proportional Representation, but that's a perennial complaint)
Qualifying who a "serious candidate" is is pretty arbitrary.
You can easily make the argument all these candidates are serious because they're all on the ballot to push for electoral reform.
yes, the election deposit requirement was struck down by the courts. but if you cannot get 100 people in your riding to contribute $10 to your campaign, you are not going to win. it's not about money so much as about seriousness.
It doesn't matter whether you're serious about winning, how much you can fundraise or what your motivations are.
We all have a Charter protected right to run for office in this country.
in particular, making it more likely for an elector to make a mistake while marking their ballot is a clear assault on the integrity of our electoral process.
A long ballot is an inconvenience but not an undue restriction.
How do you decide who would get removed? Who gets to decide? Who's prevented from registering? And by what metric?
This guy is a targeted attack on democracy. And it's just one guy doing it.
The ballots should be investigated. Are they real people? If so, what is their objective in participating in this crap?
The rhinos are funny, smart, and have a platform. This guy is just spamming our election.
I hope he gets jail time.
My guess is that the one guy used their names. I doubt very much some are aware they're on the ballot. Others may not even exist.
This is a clear attempt to undermine our elections. Jail time.
What would be a bigger issue is if a Peter Poilievre was on the ballot just to steal votes, even though I hope Poilievre loses.

This protest has turned the ballot of this particular, very important riding into an unquestionable farce.
It will cause headaches, wasted time, and wasted money.
And the media coverage of it will draw attention to their cause.
Effective protests cause inconvenience.
There are already procedures in place for visually impaired people. In addition to forms of assistance available at polls, there is also assisted phone voting.

- Elections Canada, who had to go through all this
- The printing company who had to use more ink
- The poll workers who had to have 91 separate ballot piles
- The voters who looked at this and said "wtf"
PP did lose but I don't think it was because of this
Some even claimed that those involved in the protest were fascists and being funded by conservatives.
Effective protests must inconvenience people.
If it might hurt anyone, it would be BRUCE FANJOY, who's the newbie and not as well known.
Imo, yes, it's voter intimidation.
They drown out liberal opposition and hope they just pick the familiar name
- so, in Carlton:
#Vote for Fanjoy, not Trumps fanboy

A nuisance? Sure. But what they're protesting is a very antiquated system that favours the status quo and causes false majority governments.
I'd certainly make the argument that that's more anti-democratic than a long ballot.
It absolutely is an issue for elderly and visually impaired people.
It also greatly slows down the voting and especially the vote counting process.

I think there were several factors in the outcome, but in a large, urban riding, is it possible that this played a part in the outcome?
Maybe…

That was my point precisely!!
As long as I live here, my vote will never matter for the rest of my life. I think that's a much more "anti-democratic" than a long ballot, and deserving of much more attention than this stunt.
It’s called a yellow dog riding because the Conservatives could run a yellow dog as their candidate and still win.
I have no specific gripe with Mona Fortier, I just wish it mattered if I participated in the election.
Take rural Alberta, for example. If it was possible for a collection of organized voters to cause a progressive upset, surely it would have happened *once* since the 90s, anywhere.
It's just flawed to assume all voters can be satisfied by one MP.
It would shut out the territories and PEI.
The non partisan committee.
They stalemated
And he never bothered to correct them or anyone else despite knowing that he had no intention to push for PR. Give me a break.
There was a clear implication reform meant PR, and Trudeau was happy not to correct people.
The committee's report said they should hold a referendum to vote on a proportional system, with a preference for mixed member so it would be both proportional and still preserve local representatives.

We did have a massive ballot in Toronto recently regarding the mayor, but not sure if Olivia was an underdog (she wasn’t to me, at least)
So no, we shouldn't have to put up with it
