You are correct. It just came out on the trail end of angry losers mad about TLJ, and more importantly, a more general star wars movie fatigue among movie goers.
Facts! The toxic fan base has tried to convince everyone that most of these new films are bad. 7 is really good. Rogue One is great. Solo is good. 8 is good, but also ruined the trilogy, so mixed bag. 9 is okay and really tried to save the trilogy as a whole. But that’s just my correct opinion.
The best part of being a decently functioning human being is that I don't need to care if people violently hate things I like and desperately try to tell me I'm a moron for liking it.
It's lovely for them that they think that way, but I'm still going to like the things no matter how angry they are.
It’s a needless movie but it’s pretty good. My main issues are the hamfisted way they establish things (Han’s surname should not have been a thing), the Woke-Droid 5000 who was just irritating (not a fan of Waller-Bridge in general), but most is that it’s too damn DARK!! Who did the grading on it???
i hear you! but to me all movies are needless. tis the nature of media :p han solo’s surname is also how he got in the original han solo trilogy, so non issue for me. it was already on the nose in ANH w/ his lone wolf archetype. and i believe its dark because it’s a crime drama :p
There’s dark and then there’s “what the fuck is going on?” dark. It’s the same as Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. A crime drama doesn’t need to be nearly impossible to see (Heat is as clear as day) and it’s even worse if you try to watch it in 3D.
i can definitely get where you’re coming from. to me, i guess i just didn’t perceive a visibility problem? or maybe the brightness on my own screens is too high 😆
It’s my main complaint. I spoke to a couple of people who worked on Harry Potter and asked about THBP being dark. One said it was to hide the VFX that was rushed. I’m guessing the reshoots Ron Howard ordered meant less time to get the VFX up to standard and they dipped the lighting to cover it.
No, I'm actually very mad about somebody posting a movie that I mildly disagree with. How dare you. Did you even consider the trauma you were inflicting
As someone who had only seen Rogue One and Phantom Menace up until the past few months, I really think most things in the Star Wars film universe are great, just the fan base is a vile pile of filth who can't enjoy things for the most part
It was fine! Donald Glover was great and I want more of him in that role! Paul Betany was terrifying and he wasn’t even a magical black-clad seven foot-tall cyborg with a sword that could cleave anything in two! He was just a guy!
I will still maintain the real problem was The Last Jedi. People disliked it and refused to see Solo. Disney couldn’t admit their flagship trilogy was failing, so they threw Solo under the bus instead.
no you’re correct, it was a really fun movie with early star wars dna. unfortunately by the time of its release the stink of disney sequel trilogy was rubbing off on it, but it deserved better
i think it’s a great quality to be entertained easily. look how little enjoyment people who engage with every little thing critically seem to have with star wars, or anything 😅
and unfortunately, a lot of Star Wars fans cling to that as if it means it’s a bad movie instead of that a bunch of people just didn’t see it in theaters
It's not great either. I still contend that if they had not tied it to Solo and just made a movie in the Star Wars universe, it would have been better.

Lando was my favorite part of the originals. He’s the cool side of the pillow eternally. I gave BDW fan art at a convention.
Donald Glover was just. Mm. French Chef’s kiss. I will always love that movie.
She looks sooooo beautiful as she looks down from her departing yacht at Han. 🥹
