Accused by a whistleblower of covering up an oil spill that killed dolphins and sea snakes, Santos get fined just $10k π€―
Santos spends up to $US3.3m per year on a private jet for their executives so I donβt think AUD10k is going to hurt them.

Itβs a travesty of justice and disgusting that this behaviour is so blatant.
What sort of government allows this?
All resource companies should have fines expressed either as a percentage of their profits or their total earnings. Iβm thinking 10 might be a good deterrent.
...And if we had quality politicians it would be considered cynical to say; only by fining the poor do the wheels keep turning.
The fine should meet the clean up costs.

Our Governmentβs 50% being free carried, and the developer paying all costs.
They will still want it.
Australians are being robbed of hundreds of billions by gutless & weak politicians. Like Albo

After listening to maniacal rhetorical rants this morning and knowing Trump has his fingers on NUKES...
It will end before CLIMATE CHANGE FINISHES US
A fine of that magnitude isn't even pocket change for the company's executives.
The great divide, the wealthy and the rest.
What possible incentive is that to a huge company to fix the fault and clean up their mess? May as well just leave it and pay $10k on the odd occasion they are sprung.

Can you do anything to make sure this does not happen again?
Maybe fines for pollution, for dishonesty to consumers, etc, should be adjusted - corporate revenue-before-tax used as a multiplier somehow.
