It’s a travesty of justice and disgusting that this behaviour is so blatant.
What sort of government allows this?
All resource companies should have fines expressed either as a percentage of their profits or their total earnings. I’m thinking 10 might be a good deterrent.
...And if we had quality politicians it would be considered cynical to say; only by fining the poor do the wheels keep turning.
The fine should meet the clean up costs.

Maybe fines for pollution, for dishonesty to consumers, etc, should be adjusted - corporate revenue-before-tax used as a multiplier somehow.
