If your life was a movie this would be the moment you rallied and came back stronger than ever to create an amazing new future for mankind. Be the main character! 💙
and you smoke cigarettes like a corporate shill who would sell you stuff that would kill you and laugh all the way to the bank as you struggle to breathe.
The one thing humanity has going for it is that there are those among us with imagination. They can imagine. They drag us along after a while as we react to one another. First, we turn off the noise. Then, common sense arises. Listening to imaginations. Not fear, nor hate, nor greed.
All is not lost. Every person who writes their representatives, who connects with their community & mutual aid, who protests, who donates, all of that and more makes it just that much harder for them to just swoop in and take whatever they want. Make it hard for them. Don’t give up, set a precedent!
I don’t have true idols to be honest. It’s just not possible to know all about someone to be able to give them the status and trust being an idol implies.
I didn't particularly enjoy Eraserhead, but I found it interesting and evocative, and I still wound up watching the entire thing. Not many artists can create something like that.
I don't actually know. I don't think I've ever discussed this film with another person before. Twin Peaks? Sure. Eraserhead? I don't bring that one up at the diner table.
Eraserhead is brutal. I love it, but I don't enjoy it. Does that make sense? It is one of those works of art that I can only consume every 20 years or so.
So very true. The future is much more grim than many realize. Seems like I have predicted many negative events for decades. I really believe we are headed for a hellish time.
“In late 2016, an image of a woman's hand holding a cigarette over her tights-clad legs, bearing the quote 'my idols are dead and my enemies are in power' was posted by Paul Darling. Its source still remains mysterious but the quote has since been used in songs and albums and designs worldwide.”
"I have searched for great men; but have found only the spes of their ideals."
I can not remember who said this but I do know he was a lot smarter than me....
As far as idols go, the truth about them is they were weak enough or it was all a sham, and we just have to wait for the door to close slam shut on their stupidy
Timeless, such an amazing shot and quote. Subtitles really add so much to screen captures too don't they? They make the overall vibe possible but I bet Lynch would have hated them.

As for your enemies being in power, I'm fond of the Dylan lyric: "For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin"

Bruh....
My god.
I’d say Jimmy Carter was worthy to be an idol, but then he’d had an 100 year track record to prove himself worthy.

We lost Bowie, Cornell, and Bennington...
It's gonna be a long year isn't it?
Living in deleted
Our leaders tell us what we want to hear then do whatever it takes to get them re-elected and not piss off the leaders of the party...
All leaders are influenced by money, why else would they want to remain in WASHDC
My enemies are in power (meus heróis morreram de overdose/ meus inimigos estão no poder -- Cazuza, "Ideologia", 1988)
Quelle horreur !
"No."

When revolution is an abstract concept...
When villains rule...
Truth will be illegal.
Cruelty will be rewarded.
Discontent will grow and a new hero will be born.
Unbound by the rules that constrained those in the legends, what a revolution is will be re-imagined.
Anger is a powerful emotion, especially if you're right.
