The part about your phone using Signal messages for ad targeting is complete bullshit (unless your phone’s been infected with malware). Spreading vague, unfounded doubt about the security of Signal right now is incredibly irresponsible!
there definitely are unpatched vulns. zero-click iOS zero-days sell for millions. nation-states can use them on you, but they're effectively single-use because they get patched after the victim gets hacked. it's a realistic threat for the members of this group chat, but very few others.
But, but, what if you checked the setting “Add the Occasional Random Reporter to a National Security Chat”, and then you hit the I Feel Lucky button?

I have Signal on my phone too and was messing with it to see HOW this could happen and yeah, that's about it. I do wonder if he meant to add a different contact that was near Goldberg in the alphabetical list but clicked the wrong one, and was too careless to notice. And kept being careless.
I had a negative reaction when everyone was saying it was an accident. This vindicates me. They either are really inept or it was done intentionally to cover up something even worse.
One other thing this suggests: these dipshit traitors are used to having DOGEbros they've never heard of sitting in on classified meetings, so much so that it NEVER OCCURRED TO THEM to introduce themselves or ask who the new guy was.
I've never used Signal, so this is super-helpful. I mean, I already knew this was a really huge fuck-up just from the technical aspects of it, but this underscores that even more for me.

I've never believed that Hegseth's inclusion of The Atlantic was a faux pas/incompetence. Most everyone has texted someone by mistake (omfg it was terrible). But, even in a group text outside of Signal, it indicates that 1) TA had been included in previous dialogues or 2) intentionally included.
