Salted butter will absolutely make the shortbread taste better imo. We purposely use salted butter and the salt for our Christmas spritz cookies because they’re a little insipid if you use unsalted like the recipe says to. (They are also “short” like shortbread.)
I made Christmas cookies this year and forgot to do this, but wish I had. Made the same "mistake" with gingerbread. Sometimes you gotta heed the warnings.
OMG I think this is the worst recipe I've ever seen in terms of verbage. You have to read through the entirety of War and Peace before you get to the actual recipe!
There's a jump to recipe button. But I get ya, those recipes that are like "my grandma used to make this after the war and it was passed down through many generations before her..." Nobody cares, just gimme the recipe!
