Wow.
For the past few months I’d been preferring Threads over Bluesky as my main backup/lifeboat from Dark Elmo World…
Engagement was higher. But now I’ve switched to here over both as the dynamic has flipped entirely.

Bluesky is what the user actually wants not brands.
Seems to me many niches from X migrated partially already here and the critical point is past to keep engagement going on on such niches.
Gamming is pretty strong already.
And they will once audiences increases even further.
plus as a news aggregator it is fairly terrible,
This place looks a lot better... so far

It feels like Bluesky is renewing hope in social media as a force for good.
Elon is such a moron.
Personally i see the great divide in socials at the moment is how Blocking is done - nuclear/closed like Bluesky or YouCanStillFollow/open like Twitter
When you find a platform where you are free to curate your content to reaffirm your values, it's "How dare you not let others harass you?!"
Threads is a Meta thing, so you'll find Instagram/FB people, who are MUCH different from "Twitter" people. I spent some time on Threads, but it's full of teens showing photos of themselves in front of the mirror or cross-posting their IG stories
YouTube is worse. Never watch a video for lawnmowers 🤣🤣🤣
Whereas Threads is way more steady.
So yeah this trend isn’t reversing any time. It’s a fundamentally different and better tool.
Meta have literally had three chances at social media now, and while they're miles better than X, it's clear that there's a limit to what they're willing to do.
Bluesky may or may not continue to meet my expectations, but they've shown a willingness to try.
I do really do FB now either and just follow on Insta
Glad I joined here last year. Even now I feel better then twitter. This might not be perfect but it’s, so far, far less imperfect
If the UK government join up here there won't be much missing.
I tried Threads. But like yourself, it never really felt like there was much interaction. Just people spamming one another, really. Discord is kinda the same.
This ... has it's moments, but is another walled garden.
