The ACC men's basketball tournament is an annual tradition and I'm looking forward to tonight's classic ACC rivalry of ... Cal and Stanford? That can't be right.

B1G added 4 west coast teams.
TV money, sea to shining sea, across all mainland time zones.
Good business move for all 18 teams.
Like it or not, College Sports is an industry, employing tens of thousands.
To be clear: it's "good business" inasmuch as it probably improves the revenues from athletics.
But that's also an abdication of the principles of university, to be an "industry", and the continual engorgement of NCAA sports on the collegiate teat is a net negative for our schools, imo.

NO its not right.. the ACC is Atlantic Coast Conference not the Atlantic and Pacific coast . Plus I remember when you could turn on WRAL or one of the locals and watch the whole thing all 3 now 4 days for FREE... now it acc network. I use brave shield app and stream on https://buffstream.app priceless.
Yeah, this just doesn’t feel right. ACC basketball is built on classic rivalries like Duke-UNC, not… Cal-Stanford. Expansion is wild, but some traditions shouldn’t be messed with.
The conference re-alignment chaos, plus the annual wholesale transfer of rosters over the last few years, has completely destroyed college sports for me. Barely follow football any more, might watch the Final Four.

My interest in college sports, including March Madness, has gone from 100% to 0% over recent decades as it all became a perverse $$$ grab. I used to organize my work around March Madness, won’t watch a second this year.
There has got to be a sports prophecy that when all the College Sports re-align into unrecognizable Leagues the World will end...lol...the Big 10 women's final was UCLA v USC...make it make sense!!
Sad tournament for SoCal fans and former Pac10 fans. I guess...Oregon? Always liked most things Oregon. But the NCAA Women's tourney as DougM noted has great, fun USC and UCLA teams.
Why don't they give all the conferences innocuous names like Conference USA because almost all of the regional- and number-based names have no connection to current membership. Pac-12 is particularly egregious.

Stanford & Cal in the ATLANTIC Coast Conference seems like some Trump would have engineered because he paid some kid to take his geography midterm in high school.
I guess if the Gulf of Mexico can be renamed as the Gulf of America, then California universities can be relocated to the Atlantic coast. Anything goes. But in any event: Go #Duke!
Blame USC and the BIG, that’s where it all starts. As fan of the former PAC12, I’m still mad as hell and I’ll never forgive USC, I wish them nothing but the worst, into perpetuity.
I continue to feel terrible for WSU and OSU in this whole debacle. They were done dirty once everybody started looking for cover. But blame USC for blocking the attempt to gobble up the Big12 before they announced their departure. PAC should have destroyed that conference when TX and OU bailed.
I think 100% mostly correct. I expect this sort of thing from USC, a football team with a film school. UCLA chose to be their Renfield rather than preserve a lot of great rivalries.
I hope UCLA finishes last in the B1G forever. And I went to UCLA. (And Cal, to be fair, so I picked a side here)
UCLA just had no backbone when USC pulled their move. UCLA wasn’t the driver. I’m mostly angry with USC for sabotaging the PAC knowing they were out the door already and refusing to allow expansion to plunder the BIG12, should have destroyed that conference the second TX and OU left.
And yes. Sure. Cal and Stanford both thought they were Important Institutions of Academics and Athletics, and it was objectively very funny seeing them realize they were actually not pretty and popular after all.

So is making it so fans of (instant) rivals have to traverse the country rather than taking a road trip.
It's probably good business, but it's more enshittification.
Went to the Oregon & Washington games a month ago. Had a nice time.
Didn't come here to fight.

I’ve always been a proud East West Coaster, but I’m looking forward to playing against West East Coasters for a change.
God I miss being in The Big East.

My team, Indiana, gave USC all it could handle but the better team won in the end.
Women's B1G final was USC-UCLA. They've got Oregon and Washington too
Big 12 has UCF
Don't you just love regional conferences because of College Football?
Sacrilege.

One and done and other changes had done enough harm. Expansion for football eventually just skewered what made it special. I miss loving it sometimes.
I went to NC State, so I’m not trying to absolve them of sucking. It’s common enough for them.
But to get bumped for Cal is just plain disrespectful.
(I know, I know, they joined the ACC for the TV money, and I’m dating myself referring to the pac10)
Cal and the, always better, Stanford had no choice.
(Stanford alum of a certain age.)
Nice game.
go bears. sigh.

I’m a West Coast guy with Midwest roots, so seeing Cal/Louisville or Stanford/Duke every few of Saturdays was sort of entertaining…
I was just finally getting used to Louisville being an ACC power, then they throw in these guys ! 😁
