Norovirus is surging across the country, and all I can think of is a video @thespeechprof.bsky.social recently responded to of a woman bragging that she doesn't wash her hands after going to the bathroom at home.
(This is a thread about hand-washing but also about justice and living our values).

I'd still get sick, but no where near as severe as the people who exposed me.
You don't need one every day and it can be hard on your system prolonged.
But I found it did wonders for me in times of both gastroenteritis and noro exposure.
carvacrol, contained in oil of oregano, is known to disrupt the capsid shell of noroviruses.
What I don't know:
whether studies have definitively proved that oil of oregano ingestion affects the course of a norovirus infection.
Noroviruses are regularly encountered in health care. My family has experienced it through school outbreaks, I have been exposed to it through work.
I can say, for myself, my symptoms were a lot less severe than my co-workers and my family.
But I don't think my constitution is that unique.
We're surrounded by monsters. We can't deny it anymore.
Hand sanitizer doesn’t kill norovirus!!
More people need to know that!!!
Even the hand sanitizer companies evade that fact.
Hand sanitizer doesn’t kill norovirus!!
Still in my mind, unless it secretes a toxin:
Dead = not capable of making me sick = good. 😁
who said he's never seen germs so he doesn't believe in them,
because he apparently never took a middle school science class with microscopes.
doesn't mention what elementary/middle schools,
but I assume the usual MN excellence on that.
And I telephoned them to inquire once. They would NOT say they don’t kill viruses. “The CDC recommends you use our product.”
Has it been proven to kill viruses?
Eventually “no”.
How we act in community with each other is the foundation of how we do our work in the world.
Just like a Solar oven is a litmus test for climate activists. Surprising how few use it.
Great for cleaning hard surfaces, not good to get on the skin.
