I don't think it'll be Newsom who's the threat. His early, early play with the podcast he invites Nazis and creeps onto has shown to make him way, way less popular than before he started it with both left and center voters, without moving the needle on rightwing voters.
I'm not gonna believe in them until I see evidence that all elected Dems are listening to voters instead of their donors. Until then, these two are just sheepdogs trying to redirect leftist energy back to the center.
Similar to what the Tea Party did to the right. You can argue if that’s the course that should be taken but I’d argue that something similar should have happened for the left ages ago….. who knows… I’m excited to see people supporting them and their attempt at making things a bit better.
I don’t think they are depending on the party hierarchy to drive the move to the left. I think they know if they depend fully on the party they will for sure be sidelined. This is a moment where a 3rd ish party can form if not a more progressive wing pushing the old leadership out.
Disagree, even if that were a result. They're building community and giving scared people direction and hope to resist and overcome. Personally think there's a lot more being supplied with their current tour than can be taken away with a presidential nominee.
That and the fact they did this after 3rd party ppl started doing the same thing with small grass root coalitions..taking attention and momentum just to squander it again
Sharice Davids is pro genocide and pro border wall. Every single email I send her is basically begging her to stop "working with the Republicans". I recognize she gave me half a right, but I want more.
This is mostly irrelevant to the DNC. We knew well ahead of time based on polling that Hilary was the ONLY Dem candidate projected to lose to Trump and that Bernie was projected to win by the widest margin. Winning has not ever been the goal of the DNC decision makers.
It’s just a diversion by the duopoly to halt action for real ACP and other leftist work. They were in my town and I wasn’t about to go pay and then be asked to donate to “stand up to oligarchs” while I get insta worthy photos to show I’m part of the resistance. Fuck those overnight activists.
I wish you all would stop acting like they are so superior to the Gavin’s of the world..They all want to be a part of and leader of the same trash government system.
I don't know what is more delusional...you thinking that there is some Democratic Party Illuminatti that decides presidential candidates instead of primary voters or that you want Bernie Sanders to run for president at damn near 90 years old.
People are getting out and physically attending rallies to the only two candidates that resist the institution. This is about the people, not these two. This is a turning tide, don't go all doomer now that people are waking up.
The fact that they're pulling these crowds with the word Oligarchy is what gives me hope. The people might finally be willing to learn the full truth about our political structures.
I wouldn't consider 2016/2020 rugpulls, since they were pretty blatant about cheating and I don't think that biden did more than pretend to pretend, storm thurmond's favorite pupil clearly didn't give a shit
obama was a lot more of a surprise he did absolutely fuck all
Nobody wants Newsom, but please don't buy into Bernie either. He's an opportunist and a grifter who has only ever managed to help the Republicans win by splitting the left.
Idk, maybe I got some hope left but this feels a little different. Dem establishment is playing dead without any messaging and they're stepping into that vacuum. This might be the time to strike and try to usurp the whole damn thing.
My fear is they're unintentionally rehabilitating the image of the dem party as it stands today, with no internal change. Leading us towards a 'business as usual' politic, which got us in this mess in the first place.

i HATE that you're right

*very much includes the entire elite class, including consultants, gop, lobbyists, etc etc
Aka they _can't_ let it happen for their own livelihood
And the idea of a bunch of tech workers schlepping to NH (from Mass & CA) to help GN in NH primary seems farfetched.

If it's gonna be a white guy, I'm hoping for Walz or someone similar. I'm desperate for a state school grad who isn't a business/law/tech guy.
actually I do not wonder that, it was 2008
obama was a lot more of a surprise he did absolutely fuck all
Nah you're right tho that's a real threat, it's less of a threat with a decentralized movement tho. It's also a horrible reason to not try at all.
It's going to be Newsom. He's perpetuating the Progressive MAGA bipartisanship
Out of the realm of possibility? No.
controlled opposition, same old song and dance
