Let’s talk about spoilers. I’m not a huge fan of them at all because I don’t like the fact you can ruin someone’s first experience with any type of media so I’m very careful how I post & what I post when I’m playing old or new games. I try to be as respectful as I can be. I hope others follow suit.

I do not understand.
Some moron spoiled Sonic Superstars on Reddit for me.
Some people think that just because something is old enough, means it's ok to post unsolicited spoilers without warning.
It is part of why I stay caught up to one piece, not only cause it's one of my favorite manga, but spoilers are everywhere.
at least wait until christmas ¬_¬
Recontextualizes the experience, maybe, but ruined? Nah, I don't think so.
(Please play it if you haven't 😉. DONT LOOK UP ANYTHING ABOUT IT IF YOU DO)
If you're REALLY stuck, careful when looking up answers. The subreddit would generally try to give subtle hints to push you in the right direction.
Like I'll discuss things and not go out of my way to spoil it on purpose , but if i see someone discussing that they just started something I'm no way booting open the door and shouting "omg when this thing happens!!!"
I also don't believe in the silly notion that "you've had enough time to watch it, you can be spoiled now!"
No, not everybody has time
I don't care the movie is 60 years old at this point, I'm still not spoiling anything unless someone asks me to
I hate nothing more than the person spoiling it going like "ITS A 20 YEAR OLD GAME HUR DUR"
So fucking what? There is always reasons why someone hasnt played / watched something and there are a MILLION games and movies/shows. Get out of here with your "20 years old"
The caveat being I still don’t post major spoilers but if something as iconic as Sephiroth killing a character I’m fine with.
Im a big believer in respecting others wishes though, so I keep my mouth shut when it comes to them.
Older games, especially retro that's kinda tough. I have actually gotten into some games because of revealed spoilers.
Ex. "oh this area is cool, must experience this!" Or because i wanted more context on some lore i read up on. Ex. Persona, etc.
And it just changes the whole mood and dynamic of the story, and things get really serious beyond that point.
Yeah spoilers suck.
A name, without context to who, what, when, why or how, and somehow they're upset about it.
Some are more obvious, but folks will need to take a chill pill for some.
Do some due diligence to protect yourself as well IMO
Looking at you, Prosafia. Don't let me find you. I will beat you with a stick for spoiling M&L: Brotherhood.
Like there is discord for deeper discussions, i don't need to do that here.
However, I’m more OK with spoilers now than I used to be. I’ve had situations when a spoiled plot twist became a reason to try something
Spoiler alert: not everyone has watched every movie, read every book and played every game in the history of humankind.
Best movie I ever saw was Tombstone. Why? Because the only thing I knew about it was from the poster in the theater. It was a complete surprise. (Also helps all the yummy actors...)
Point being, lately you see all the best parts in ads before you can watch/play it.
But it's a people problem so I'm sure I got more lucky so far. Haha. Ugh.
So I started to spoiler fake scenarios for the media 😂
If the only way it's enjoyable is if you don't know how it ends, it's got zero longevity and replay value.
Game are not films, and never should be!
🏃💨
Some people prefer to wait for every episode to come out, fellas...
But I always aim to avoid posting blatant spoilers, especially plot points or anything unexpected.
But being spoilt the ending was how I finally succumbed to watching some of my most beloved pieces of media
So if I am hesitent on long-running shows I will spoil the ending for myself and often that gets me curious about evrrything leading up to that point
As an example, my "spoiler, non-spoiler" for SW: Force Awakens was that there were no green lightsabers in the movie.
I hope people are more mindful here 😊🤞🏼
Had the Lightyear movie ruined by one of them, posted the biggest god damn twist of the movie in the title/thumbnail, never saw the movie
Stage is set, the creator wants to delight! Don't ruin the design!
Not everyone can afford to get games day one or find the time to play it. Being an adult is hectic. So I don't want to ruin their experience for when they do get to play it! 😄
If you watch a favorite movie that you've seen dozens of times, is the plot twist ruined by you already knowing it?
Spoilers only ruins an experience if the twist already sucked to begin with 🤷♂️
I wrote it when people were spoiling episodes of TV shows within hours of airing.
But I try my best to not reveal TOO much for the people who hate them.
