Poland isn't a queer paradise but our mainstream media isn't radicalizing "ordinary people" in outrage-driven exploitation unlike some other places - I doubt this will be very newsworthy around here. Only the usual suspects will complain... if they even hear about it in the first place.
Yeah but there has been an odd transphobic 'debate' here and there afterwards. Overall it's not a topic on the horizon for the public.
Trans people have to sue their parents in court to change their marker and are fairly under the radar. Our right wing media mostly busy with hating on Ukrainians.
Interestingly, gender criticals are now freaking out about the NHS's new puberty blocker trial, despite praising Cass as the best thing ever and needing to be followed!
I really hope that @johnswinney.bsky.social and @thesnp.bsky.social government will reverse their approval of Cass in light of this and the many other damning conclusions being drawn throughout the world since the report was released.
Poland seems to be swinging away from the far-right mentality, while Britain is moving there at a slower pace, swallowing up transphobic bs. The Cass Review is taken as such gospel, but it really doesn't pass muster. This thread does lay out some of the real problems present.
If only it was just us being a laughing stock! The problem is that a lot of people saw this as giving authority to their bigotry. The Cass review is being used by other transphobic movements as justification.
"One of the overt criteria that the NHS followed in choosing Hilary Cass was her complete lack of experience in working with people with gender incongruence and dysphoria, which was to ensure her independence and impartiality"
"However, in practice it resulted in an unprecedented situation in healthcare when a non-expert in the field was invited to develop expert recommendations".
"The common thread of many objections to the Cass report is the multifaceted downplaying of the importance of the voices of adolescents and their families, clinical practice, the scientific knowledge base, and national and global recommendations..."
"...while misleading the public that a complete lack of clinical experience in a given field is a guarantee of reliability. As a multidisciplinary team of experts and patients, we consider such a trend to be harmful and completely contrary to the interests of adolescents in need of help."
Poland, despite the dodgy methods taken by it's far-right government, was able to beat them. The UK has a government that is trying to imitate the far-right, and so is leading the country to them. Now Poland is looking at us and groaning. (Huh, he kind of looks like the Polish flag.)

Are you kidding me? π
Well, unexpected, but good to hear. I guess my secondhand knowledge of Poland is out of date.
