The culprit? An overzealous pileated woodpecker.

Woodpeckers started attacking my wood siding RIGHT at the beginning of the pandemic, when my household suddenly included a wfh healthcare guy and 4 zoom students. I have never hated an entire species so much in my life. I fantasized about being able to berate them in their own language daily.

lolll I love this. There are woodpeckers outside my house and I'm always trying to find them - not easy when there are like a dozen wood posts on my street. Woodpeckers are so cool!

I thought this was a John Scalzi/Starter Villain reference, but there the sentient cetacians were dolphin, not orcas. But I agree that woodpeckers don't need marine mammals to radicalize them.
