They're stopping any movement of eggs out of the region - the quarantine zone is currently 6 miles. The sales ban is for anything from that zone. For now, anyway.
They can, but it doesn't sound like a human coughing - it's more like a high-pitched squeak - mucus gets in their airways same as it does us, but it causes the pitch of their voice to go up because of the way it drains.
it's different in different species. Earlier last year there were reported cases of HPA1 in penguins in Georgia - I don't know if these cases with chickens is the same virus, or a different one.
If it's the same one, that's more worrisome.
Prices won't go up - Trump'll become president, replace people in the FDA, remove regulations, and prices will come down - the eggs will be as, if not more, dangerous to consumers, but no one will be told, and more people will be sick. But prices won't go up.
Honestly, I hope this drives people to try duck eggs - there's a few farms in New England that sell them, and they're just as safe - they're also bigger. I know chefs like using them for that reason. 😋
Interesting. This must be a growth conditions thing. Where I am (Midwest) locally grown duck eggs are smaller than conventional and locally grown chicken eggs
Oh! Cool! I wonder if there's data on it - I'm in New England, and there's local farms that sell both around here, and the duck eggs are almost always bigger - not like massive, but maybe a third again as big? Wonder if anyone's ever measured duck eggs by location...

Trying to respond to too many things at the same time. Sorry.
Magas will blame liberals.
But we don't know this is H5N1 - only that it's an HPAI; I haven't seen a report specifying which one. Have you?
