Good question...this piece is around 5 years old and I was doing a lot of experimenting. But I believe I used 2-3 strands for the purple knots and 4-6 strands for the green knots.

I do like the modern move to "full 6-strand" embroidery, as it gives pieces such great texture. I grew up being encouraged to do all this fiddly detail with 2 or 3 strands of floss. There's a time and place for that, but this is so much more fun to do and the results are great. Love this landscape!

Thank you! I had fun experimenting with different numbers of strands for different sections to give it a variety of different textures.

When I first tried embroidery as a youth I didn't know you were "supposed" to use only 2-3 strands and I always got frustrated that I couldn't get any fine detail!
