Yep, had a location in the franchise where the A/C was broken and it gets mid 90's ~35°C in the summer. Was broken for over a year, but as soon as supervisors had to cover the store because so many people quit. It was fixed the 2nd day they were there.
It would be nice if the rich weren't able to insulate themselves from the rest of reality, then they might have to face consequences for creating something like a global financial crisis. It'd be harder for them to externalise the costs of their actions if everyone were in the same boat.
At the very least, they’ve mastered class consciousness. The rich will stick their necks out for each other (unless they have serious personal beef) because they know that if one of them is vulnerable, that vulnerability will be used against all of them.
Reminds me of something Jim Wright / Stonekettle said about, hm, officers? I can't remember if it was all or some. But enlisteds had to get onto base through this system that took forever and stressed them out while officers had a different system that was much faster.
I saw stats a few months ago that showed that wealthy Americans actually have worse health outcomes compared to equally wealthy people in other G7 countries. Because ultimately their healthcare comes from from the same overextended, penny-pinching healthcare system as everyone else.
Some of the reasons they insulate themselves are kinda understandable, there have been high profile cases of rich people getting kidnapped because they were without specialised security. In order to adress that, we should not let anyone stay so rich that they become a target for kidnappings.
