Answer: "We don't give a fuck because we have a ton of clients with business before the federal gov't and they're now going to get concierge service for whatever they want."
Assuming for the moment that Paul Weiss will decline the more egregious representations Trump inevitably tries to foist on them, it’s plain as day the admin will not abide pushback and PW will be in the same place it was in before it disgraced itself and pretended it didn’t.
A bit off subject but you did ask how I felt! So…
First woman to be shipped to an El Salvador prison should be Kristi Noem, followed closely by Karoline Leavitt
Neal Kaytal's law firm Milbank, where Neal is a partner has signed an agreement with the Trump Administration to not represent certain people and to to pro bono work for the Trump Administration basically work for Trump.
I'm devastated cuz Neal Katya was the most impressive lawyer I've ever seen.
This only underscores how thoroughly the legal system in America is not working well for Americans. Also, how could anyone defend organizations or people djt supports?
The fact that a presidential press secretary can boldly say any person or entity is "bending the knee" to a sitting president tells me all I need to know about the Tangerine Palpatine's ambitions.
Ahem. IN AN ADVERSARIAL LEGAL SYSTEM LIKE OURS, THE SIDE YOU SUPPORT DOESN'T MAKE YOU WRONG OR RIGHT, THAT'S JUST YOUR JOB AND YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT SAFELY SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO HAVE A LEGAL SYSTEM. Thank you, sorry for yelling.

And now we read tha5 part of their pro bono work will be representing the government in its efforts to open up drilling and mining and logging on federal lands. Hope they hate themselves with every word they write on Trump's behalf while they cause ecological ruin and clear cutting of forests.
I don’t get this at all. Law firms are private entities - what do they owe Trump? Why are they offering to do pro bono work for him? What does he have over them?
He doesn't have anything "over" them other than issuing executive orders that threaten the business of law firms who rely on security clearances, government contracts, or clients who might run to other law firms who are not being targeted by the administration. I have some links below.
Ah ok, it seems that the legal profession and government are much more closely intertwined in the US than they are in the UK. I’ve never heard of lawyers here holding security clearances for example.
Oh no worries! For all our shared commonlaw tradition, there are some notable differences that I am sure I have no idea about. I also want to be clear that I am not defending law firms that chose to cut a deal rather than pursue a legal challenge.
Judges are government employees, courts are federal buildings. If they can ban you from federal buildings, litigation becomes impossible. Not to mention that many cases are against government entities.
You misspelled “clients”. As long as there are people graduating with $500,000 in student loans, there will be people willing to take jobs that pay $250,000 to new graduates.
Of course clients should take their business elsewhere. But work also grinds to a halt if the grinders quit and find other employment. Hell, it is the wild west now. Why not use the opportunity to buck the tired legal establishment hierarchy and start new firms?
And also, the literal translation of "pro bono" means "for the public good."
If the administration blackmails them into free work, especially if that work is of dubious merit, it might be "free legal work," but it can't be "pro bono."
tRump is creating an atmosphere of fear/reprisal to extort the world's leading law firms into agreeing in advance to represent him and his administration as a client
This instantly creates a conflict of interest barring them from taking cases oppositional to the WH
Whether they do any work or not
a question that has yet to be asked or answered ... when this guy is no longer president , will these 'contracts' be honoured in full , or will these law firms win both halfs .... escape an INSANE PERSONS wrath and then prosper.
Bad enough they are saying you bended your knee because you are afraid of Trump. But now they say that you are going to work to further his agenda. See if you can work that in to your company mission statement.
Whatever these law firms said their values are they are not; if they said they value the Constitution they do not; if they say they will uphold the rule of law they will not.
Insulting them while they are on bended knee saying,”thank you, sir”Big law firms are not as smart as you think. If they give in this easily, what will stop them from doing it to your company’s case?
Counting mail in ballots that arrive after Election Day but are postmarked on or before is like being in line before the polls close and the polls close. You’re told to stay in line because you still get to vote. It’s your right.

Doubly sick that he's talking about Americans.
This is like all the top firms drinking poison
That's called a bribe.
Thank you.
DOJ can’t prosecute or defend their own bullshit. How embarrassing…
They have shackled themselves to the sinking boat and they can't possibly serve any useful purpose to anyone else now.
SMFH
How can they offer x$-worth of pro bono, but not yet know if the case is something they can do, or want to do??
