Well if you want a franchise I would go with Marvel. But if you want Xmas with a twist. Gremlins, lethal weapon, Diehard, and finish with Its a wonderful life.
1. Do you like cheesy? I’d stick with the Christmas Prince collection.
2. Sci-fi? try out the Alien franchise (which includes Prometheus).
3. Action? the Daniel Craig Bond movies.
4. Drama/Heist your style? The Ocean’s movies are all great (hot take, I like Oceans 8)
Some TV series you can explore. If you liked the Expanse & Sopranos maybe try one of these if you haven’t already: Slow Horses, Severance, Andor, Black Mirror, Better Call Saul, Carnivale.
I should have included Glass Onion, good point! Was thinking more about “cozy indoors” vibes.
Sheila is wild. Co-written by Stephen Sondheim and Anthony Perkins. Insane early 70s cast: Coburn, Mason, Welch, McShane. Whodunit puzzle on a yacht in the Mediterranean.
Dune 1 & 2
Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy
The Dark Knight Trilogy
The Shining & Doctor Sleep
OG Spider-Man Trilogy
Entire Star Wars series
Various MCU series
Shrek 1 & 2
Toy Story series
Jurassic Park Trilogy
LOTR & Hobbit Trilogy
Eastrail 177 Trilogy
Entire X-Men series
Indiana Jones series
I'm going to introduce my son to the Cornetto trilogy - Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and the World's End. And probably throw "Paul" in as a bonus entry. Feel like we need some laughs.
What's your taste? Great but violent: The Penguin. Sprawling western in Australia: Territory. Waaay offbeat: The Prisoner (original). Historical: Rome. Or, an all time favorite of mine: Fringe.
It's not a series but Planes Trains and Automobiles is one of the rare films that's Thanksgiving appropriate and isn't a slasher film. Although the slasher film itself is kinda fun.
Great question but hard to answer without knowing what type of movies you like. The Mission Impossible movies are what first come to my mind. Or if you want a really really long marathon how about the James Bond movies?
For years I did crossword puzzles & knew Asta from that.
One sad bachelor Christmas Eve alone after some beer and a pizza I ordered in I caught one on public television at like midnight and fell in love with it.
Depending on my mood, I’m going to either watch Euphoria or do a best of John Landis (Animal House, Blues Brothers, Coming to America) or a John Hughes non-X-Mess (Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller, Uncle Buck).
Honestly I think TV has surpassed movies for marathon watching over the last decade. If you’ve never watched Station 11 it’s a masterpiece with a great emotional arc. Fargo (TV series) for winter vibes. For something amazing that’s recent, Shogun.
kdrama tip for newbies - use English captions! The voiceovers are still questionable at best.. the Korean language is also really pleasant to the ear.. weirdly reminds me of Spanish for some reason
The Rings of Power on Amazon is quite good, I'm a fan of LOTR and The Hobbit just for context. I ignore the purists who want to 'hate' on another group for liking another series or film based on Tolkien's work.
Planet of the Apes - early ones are weird after so long, reboots are surprisingly good, CGI/MO-CAP is just astonishing. It made me take Apes seriously 😁.

Be sure to watch the Kevin Sullivan version. There is only one Anne: Megan Follows!
I personally adore it but for context, I have a broad range of favorites from the lowest brow to seriously cerebral.
Paul is charming, silly, and the cameos are top shelf. It’s just a LOT more American than the others in both setting and vibe.
The answer is obviously the Die Hard series.
So clearly “The Fast and the Furious” has to be up there.
Dune Part I and II

But use the opportunity to critique specific themes that. appear in the subtext.
my wife enjoys Dexter which is a little concerning. What platform do you stream on?
All six of them.
And, if you have time, there’s two amazing seasons of the Rings of Power
But do that after the LotR binge.
Except for maybe Fast and the Furious.
1-Shaun of the Dead
2-Hot Fuzz
3-The World’s End
And then check out Simon Pegg in 3 great British movies: Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End.
OK, just remembered. the first 3 Bourne movies are pretty good too.
Clancy Brown as a fire-and-brimstone preacher; Adrienne Barbeau as a snake charmer; Clea Duvall as a midway psychic.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
...and that's exactly how it works.
