If you look at the numbers of people with disability not in the labor force, they didn’t go down, meaning most likely the upward trend in the graph is explained by increase in population with disability during pandemic, not just access to work from home.

you'd have to match the numbers of new people experiencing disabilities to the increase in the first chart to argue that, or at least show that they are close. we need absolute numbers for both the first chart and the number of people with disabilities (estimated, since not all are counted)

Eyeballing a few FRED charts, it looks like the disabled 16+ population went up about 3M and the 16+ disabled labor force went up about 2M since pre-pandemic. Seems plausible that a big chunk of the increased participation rate is previously employed people becoming disabled.

I guess OTOH moving a big chunk of the non-disabled labor force to the disabled labor force would show up as a decrease in the non-disabled participation rate, and that's about back to where it was before. Might be too small an effect on overall pop. to see clearly, though.

Anyone replying with "we have more disabled people now" is missing the fucking point hard. More disabled people are able to participate in the work firce because of wfh, period. This is a simple fact, regardless of the source or onset of disability.

People that are already employed at public stores and become disabled are not working from home, and there's a lot of them. Also, we would see this trend of more disabled people working decrease in the last year or so if it was impacted by wfh because employers have begun discarding wfh positions.

No it's to shit on how people have treated the pandemic and how unseriously people are taking the effect of long covid on the workforce. This graphic doesn't definitely show us that more disabled people are able to wfh, it shows that more disabled people are in the workforce I'm the first place.

You're talking about a SEPERATE ISSUE. WFH is increased accessibility, period. It is not the end all solution. The graphic shows increased rates, not absolute values, yes, but the correlation is obvious and when combined with additional data there is a clear conclusion that I have stated.

Correlation doesn't mean shit. There are 20% more disabled people in the US since 2020 because of covid. There are more disabled people so of course there are more of us in the workforce.

I'm agoraphobic and have debilitating chronic illness, I was hired during early covid because of increased accessibility via wfh, and have stayed that way with ADA accommodations. This is not theoretical.

I am disabled from a genetic disease I've had all my life and I am unable to find a wfh job. Empirical evidence is not real evidence. Our personal experience doesn't reflect the world around us, the numbers do.
