I'm not trying to say this wouldn't be an adjustment - it will be.
But what I *am* trying to say is not only is the adjustment not that big of a deal these days, but when you have charging at home - it's a huge boon! It's an adjustment which makes your life easier!

i really want to get an electric car...

But that's how it is in modern life. And petrochemicals are far on the worse side of the scale.
The way I look at it is someone smoking next to a charging car is no big deal while smoking at a gas pump is dangerous. And here in FL people never enforce smoking bans.
The joy of not having to inhale aromatic hydrocarbons while dispensing gallons of liquid petrochemicals is highly underrated
I drive a small, fuel efficient car, since it goes my needs 99.8% of the time. I'll rent a truck it an a friend for that last 0.2%.
For one, it's not like there's a limitless supply of EVs right now. But more to the point, I am trying so fucking hard to get more people to realize "there's wires in them buildings. Get those wires to the parking lots and you've got a gas station"
We electrified this whole damn country and the power grid blankets everywhere. We don't have a "last mile" problem we have a "last 100 feet" problem and that problem is easy!
It's only inertia that makes it seem so hard.
Installing EV charging is a project, sure. But so is replacing a roof. Or repaving the lot.
Nobody questioned the need to do all the work to put up the building. And nobody questions the need to maintain the building. They're gonna spend lots of money and effort on that!
But getting some electricity to the parking lot? impossible.
