I think he should have followed up with "but Elon musk has shown no reason he'd do anything about this but I'd be glad to work with him if he's serious"yes Elon isn't necessarily the enemy. He's done Tesla and SpaceX but has done bad things like X and this new department most likely.
Without the context of this referring to Defence spending audit and “where did all the money go” this is just a “rage bait” post.
Unfortunately every so often (as much as I hate Musk) he can be broadly correct.
Bernie has always railed against hidden defence spending
This is so dumb. Just because the pentagon is overspending doesn't make Elon Musk right. Anyone knew they were. The issue is, it's not this lot of people who are going to fix things for anyone but themselves!
Are we only going to be posting out of context screenshots of tweets now? Twitter is already full or fraud and rampant misinformation. Do it again here on Bluesky does no good
I reckon there would have been a few ‘good’ trustworthy people, back in 1930, who’d have stated publicly that H!tler was right (about, specifically, something or other).
There’s little room for error with this sort of approach, as a cursory look at recent history reveals.
Dang it. You just lost my respect posting this clickbait and calling others losers who are willing to call you out on it and post the entire thread for context. Sigh. Unfollowed.
It's funny what targets you'll choose to make disingenuous misleading posts about, stripped of context. You'd be the first to scream foul when someone did this to a politician you support.
I'm not. Always hated the muther fucker. Most people have short fucking memories. I haven't forgotten how his misogynistic 'Bros' went after Clinton and her female campaign workers. Those same bros are now very comfy with Elon.
The problem with the context is the right will use it to their advantage. Whether the Pentagon is wasting money or not, Elon Musk is disingenuous pos and simply want to move those to dollars to benefit billionaires.
I have a lot of respect for Bernie Sanders. What is this about? What is he replying to? It could be anything. Musk could be right about one thing and wrong about thousands of others let’s find out what this is all about before we say anything about Bernie.
I think this is unnecessary. Bernie Sanders has worked for the good of our country for many years. This is just age shaming. Instead of pointing fingers, we need to look at all possibilities to solve our problems.
I don’t mean to age-shame… but I get how it could have sounded like that. I just know that folks I know have softened on positions in some cases as they’ve aged. And I truly have no idea how old the man is.
Another thing if you look back at Bernie Sanders records, you will find he has not changed his positions on much of anything. He’s been fighting for democracy and for the people of America since he was young.
The context is that the so-called reform is not for the good but for authoritarian purposes, and Bernie ignores it, perhaps intentionally. I suggest you post it fully.
I mean…losing track of billions of dollars with no recourse seems bad to me. I don’t know that I’d preface that by saying Elon is right because Elon’s methods to remedy the problem are wrong in my opinion. But the issue with the pentagon budget does need to be addressed.
He's going to go after everything that does not serve him. He's using veterans benefits, welfare, Healthcare as a distraction from the billions he gets from the government.
Bernie does not know how to lead a populist movement. This phrasing ain’t it. Smh
And if you’re gonna stay on that propaganda site, the least you can do is not say “Elon Musk is right.” Of all things. Just echoing the propaganda and normalizing the fascist.
Well, it can be true that we waste a lot of money on the military industrial complex but untrue that burning the entire federal government to the ground is the right response.
This is one of those situations where two things can be true at the same time … our defense funding IS in need of scrutiny and overhaul AND Elon should not be given credit for saying so. This isn’t an original idea. That said, I expect none of this to be rectified in the next few years.
Too bad Elonia is going to cut social programs instead of cutting the budget for the “Bombs for Babies” program the USA has been running for the past 80 years 🤷♀️
That’s pretty weird for Bernie to say even given the full context of the post. He’s not right about anything, but eLon’s motivations are fully selfish and downright evil.
I'm not. Bernie's been carrying water for a decade now. It's very arguable that he is the reason Trump got elected in 2016. He has never been one of us. He didn't even have a real job until he was 40 years old and was a deadbeat dad. His supporters are some of the most insufferable people online.
Yes, I've read the full tweet. I really don't care. Bernie Sanders is a con artist. He has been one of the greatest adversaries to the Democratic party in recent history, costing us in 2016 the most important election of our lives.
I have no skin in this game, but I’ve read about Bernie Sanders and he’s not averse to criticizing or praising any side of politics, which is a good thing. “A dead beat dad”?
Bernie's problem, whether accidental or not, is he leaves himself open to out of context quotes. Trump quoted him all fall of 2016 against Hillary. No seasoned politician did this on purpose without intending that first line to go viral.
This is why i don't like Bernie.
Regardless of who we agree or don't agree with, misinformation or select information is a problem all around. Everyone should be able to make informed decisions based on facts and actual events.
Lefties have FOR DECADES said that our Defense spending is outrageous. So Bernie in PUNKING Elon here and Bernie haters quickly change their position and now claim our level of Defense spending just perfect?
Make it make sense.
I wouldn’t go on and say Elon is right. It’s a known fact that our government overspends and the military has some of the most wasteful spending and needs to be reigned it. The horrifying and dangerous part is who is going to be in charge and how they are going to go about it.
Never been a Bernie fan especially after what he did to Hilary with that shady speech and his followers voted for trump and here he is again agreeing with that rich psycho
The Pentagon, with a budget of $886 billion, just failed its 7th audit in a row. It’s lost track of billions.
Last year, only 13 senators voted against the Military Industrial Complex and a defense budget full of waste and fraud.
That must change.'

Watching leftists play mental gymnastics over this is wild.
I’d say he’s right too. #BlueSky

Fk that shit.
He, and his base have always been the primary targets of Russian propaganda.
Whether he understands how that works is debatable.

That’s not something I want in my social media life anymore.
Why?
Because the point is *not*, "Musk is right."
The point is that the Pentagon needs to clean up its financial act.
Not that Elon was "right."

He exists to proclaim a schism exists. That is his only function.
Joe Biden let Bernie run his economic agenda. https://www.sanders.senate.gov/about-bernie/committee-assignments/
He didn't have to give Bernie anything, but Joe is nice.

Massive conflicts of interest with the people deciding how the money is spent
Politicians sitting on the executive boards of military contractors
Now Elon and DOGE. Same corruption, different beneficiary
