As an ex-West Texas football player in the late 1970s, I adored the FNL book.
But, in 2013, my wife and I made about 100K between us. With all the rich guy tax breaks, How much would you bet that we paid a higher effective federal tax rate than him?
I feel complicit for buying multiple copies of Prayer for the City, still one of my favorite books, to give to friends, thereby helping fund the habit.
I appreciate that he went this way not really that long after he was on Costas's show at the same time as Will Leitch flipping out about blogs and calling Drew Magary "Big Daddy Balls", maybe it started him on realizing "I should just be myself"
Staring slackjawed in awe of this Wikipedia photo. It's like entirely new type of guy. You can look at most guys on the street and categorize them as one type of guy or another, but this kind of guy isn't any of those! He's a new thing entirely!
A few years back he was interviewed on NPR (maybe Fresh Air?) and he discussed rather candidly about his sexuality, clothes addiction, and the uh “adventures” he had in France. No surprise here.
When my very fashionable grandmother died, she had a drawer full of leather gloves. I think I took six pairs. I did not realize she had a kindred spirit in Buzz Bissinger (and, I assume, neither did she).
The funniest part to me is him talking about how cool and sleek he looks and then they show you pictures that look like he's wearing ill-fitting "Liberace in the Matrix" cosplay
This is healthy masculinity - I don’t care if his style isn’t for me, his attitude is 100% what we need, healthy confidence and self affirmation rules.
Finding a sales associate at a store who knows what they're doing AND what you might do is gold, of course if I found one they soon went on to something that paid way better than stores I shopped at
I feel bad for him as he’s obviously trying to figure out some stuff here, but at the same time the look we see of what he’s buying doesn’t make him look cool either. Granted I have little taste for fashion but he looks like a washed up rockstar.

And the picture has only gotten worse.
