While there’s a lot we don’t know about President-elect Donald Trump’s tariff plans, at least one thing is pretty certain: Tariffs will go up. If history is any indication, that means price increases will likely follow.

94 years ago another Republican enacted tariffs. The Smoot Hawley Tariff Act. In response to this, countries from around the world retaliated and it is now believed that it contributed to worldwide depression, which also contributed to the rise of political extremism of Fascism and Communism
That’s the point. Tariff initially increases prices means less spending on higher priced goods. In which makes companies change their consumer strategy. Like lower manufacturing and distribution costs, in which causes more in US production. More jobs and back to better costs than before tariffs.
How many years and how many lives are you willing to destroy to reach that point? Building factories isn't cheap, and last i checked, a lot of lumber and supplies come from overseas. Who is going to absorb the increased costs to bring manufacturing back to the states?
I hear the tariffs are another con game. The lobbyist will be lining up to pay Trump for exemptions for certain corporations He might finally be a billionaire then!
Stop consuming unnecessarily, refocus on what is essential. The real revolution is within you, not outside. Trust your intuition, it will guide you when the time comes.
When the mob reminds you that you are the enemy of the people and you are rounded up and herded off to the American version of Dachau I hope you have a moment of clarity as the doors to your cattle car slam shut behind you.
Honest reporting about Trump's disastrous policies would have meant something before the election. When you were pretending Trump wasn't insane and evil to get good ratings.
You have completely failed the nation and American citizens.
This is exactly what Harris, and countless economists, warned would happen. It should also be basic common sense. But, you are right; the media should have done a better job explaining it.
What stopped the American public from researching and trying to understand what tariffs were prior to the election? You can’t expect the media to spoon feed you everything in life
As a Canadian I have to say that the POS you elected is already having a negative effect on the CDN dollar. Fuck you MAGA for your uninformed decision to elect that felon and POS!
Exactly, I saw this Main and I had to look it up, I had no idea. We give them taxpayer subsidies because they don’t pay their employees enough to live on and their employees get government benefits. That makes no sense at all. I wonder how many other companies we do this with?🍊💩 more tax cuts.😡
I'll have to disagree with Mr. Curtner, there. These individuals by themselves not adding up to a quarter each doesn't make people poor, but the entire system and the top tax bracket not being taxed the way they should absolutely does, in part.
The key to the next 4 years and beyond is to get back to the grass roots. Take back town halls. Take back mayor's offices. Win in state legislatures and governors' races. The Democratic Party cannot remain an exclusively national party. It can't govern Wall Street without Main Street.
#Trump repeatedly said that countries will pay for higher tariffs, not #American people. Reality is that #American consumers will pay more.
@thedemocratsmv.bsky.social should have educated the voters, but didn’t.
Americans are caught between the slime of #Trump and incompetent messaging of Dems.
While there’s a lot we don’t know about CNN's coverage of Trump's tariff plans, at least one thing is pretty certain: CNN will both sides issue & sane wash Trump's idiotic, sociopathic ramblings as if they were actual news, lending credibility to serial sex predator/seditionist like they always do.
It's a simple plan and he is most comfortable with simpleton plans. Will it backfire? Did firing the pandemic office to save oney backfire? Pandemics are complicated. Not simple.
Either Don has no idea how tariffs work or even worse he is going to impose them for a corrupt purpose that benefits our enemy. Donald Trump proves on a daily basis with every bad decision that he is the most dangerous man in the world 🚨
His daddy bought that BS for him. I’d bet large sums of money DonOld couldn’t pass a high school econ test right now. Or math or English or civics, for that matter.
Call him donnie, never refer to him as "president," and never capitalize his last name. He's spent his whole life looking at his name plastered everywhere. Don't add to it. We do need to agree on what to call him, but we need to stop using "tr*mp" all the time.
Hopefully Trump voters will feel the drastic economic effects of the tariffs, because we will remind each and everyone of them anyway we want to remind them. Start with firing these pricks and expel the lowlife youth who voted for him‼️🇺🇸‼️
What has happened to America? The founding fathers wouldn’t recognize it. Lincoln and Regan wouldn’t recognize the Republican Party. Bet the rest of the world doesn’t recognize America. We will regain our standing in the world again.
He tried the same before though multiple times. Think back to how many compliments him and princess Ivanka had for Bill Barr. Then it fell apart when Barr called donnie's rejection of the 2020 election BS. Once people actually have to work with him it all falls apart. donnie lashes out.
Stop using his last name. He's spent his whole pampered life looking at his name plastered everywhere. Don't add to it. Call him donnie(deliberately lower case). Maybe screaming carrot demon if you prefer. We can workout a name we all agree on but no more "tr*mp." It only bloats his ego.
Narrow focus on financial metrics can distort what we define as “success.” For instance, organizations may prioritize short-term profits over long-term sustainability or employee satisfaction, neglecting vital indicators that could better gauge overall health and performance.
People don't know how much of a car is made outside the U. S. In Canada, and Mexico.ill probably end being proactive and buy a new car before the tarrifs start
Dodge challenger,Ford GT,Chevy Silverado, Honda Civic, Toyota RAV4, and several Lexus models are assembled in Canada,.
In Mexico,Vw's, Chevy Silverado and all major car company's have components plants in both country's. All will be assessed his tarrifs
And accurate, indisputable vis a vis tariffs with just the briefest glance of history. It appears 76 million voters need to be reminded of that history, whether a simple message or not.
A man that went bankrupt 4 times, banrupted a Casino, don't even know how the fuck you do that and people are like yep he's qualified for the economy. If you think tarrifs will have no effect on prices you are dumber than he is.

And the ones that can afford it shouldn't be in control of yet another industry.
You have completely failed the nation and American citizens.

Trump: Yes Sir. We’ll start with tariffs.
Putin: good idea.
BWAHAHAHAHA
