Maybe ask the reality tv personality in charge of Dept of Transportation why this keeps happening on his watch… and maybe press him and not let him keep saying this is all Pete Buttigieg and Joe Biden’s fault…
Flying under the Trump administration is no longer the safest way to travel that it used to be. Thinking of the government like a company, what is the acceptable net operating loss for civilian deaths due to lack of staffing in the FAA? Please include lawsuit settlements in the figure.
Our airline safety is mirroring Russia's now.
The employees should strike until they get back the air traffic controllers they fired because it's clearly not safe.
The SW pilots handled it extremely well! I know a lot of near misses do not get reported on the news, but we sure seem to have a lot more near misses lately. Maybe firing FAA and ATC workers is a terrible idea.
I'm not flying again until this fuc#$r is buried on the golf course and the veeper and Miguel Johnson are gone. Way to crash...no pun intended, airline stocks 🤪
Because eliminating DEI is doing a great job. 🙄
Yes I am being facetious.
Right now it is they're like running a massive restaurant kitchen, firing a bunch of the cooks and then wondering why a lot of the food is burning.
US government is composed of wayward idiots.
History has shown idiots do not make good decisions.
US government is sliding into the toilet of history.
And the whole world knows it.
Except, the US government.

How does the private jet now say.Wait a sec he is landing and we could cause a crash, all he has to do is lk to his left or right, depending on the airport, and he will see a 737 over twice the size of him landing, and realise his and his passengers lives are risk,so maybe i need to recheck with ATC.
Yes, I thought exactly the same thing. Such a fast split-second reaction and completely smooth. Imagine being on that flight! That fucking business jet just bungling and bumbling into the SWA jet's path. I keep saying: a perfect metaphor for Elon's idiot bungling destruction.
Slight ground controller error but that didn't contribute to the issue. The pilot of the private jet was clearly confused and the runway incursion was entirely his fault.
Another deliberate attempt at trying to create an accident to justify another contract to Elon to upgrade the system that wasn’t broken before the felon was elected and started firing air traffic controllers!
This time it is not controller’s fault.
ATC transcripts posted to Aviation community on Reddit clearly show private jet was instructed to hold and somehow proceeded anyway.
If you’re wondering, the radio call makes it clear ATC told the private jet to hold its position short of the runway, the private jet then repeated the instruction back incorrectly, was corrected by the tower, repeated it back correctly, and then went ahead anyway.
No one knows exactly, probably not even Elon, none have been hired yet and the Aviation Safety Advisory Committee has been deleted. Crashes used to be common, we worked very hard to stop that from happening and now we go backwards, how far backwards is anyone's guess.
OK.
But no controllers have been fired. Probationary staffers were. It's totally fucked up. But there's a difference.
These kinds of incidents happen ALL the time. January was a record low for airplane accidents.
What we're seeing is the tail wagging the dog. Media is latching on for a reason.
You don't know that, I heard some did (IDK) but the all got the fork in the road email and they are not hiring. This is the opposite of wag the dog, we are careening towards multiple failures and pretending everything is fine.
But I do know that. And I do know airline safety is good. As of now. Look in to the data. It's there. No feelings required. There's a 30 percent reduction in airlines accidents this year over last. There's usually way more than a thousand accidents a year.
Will that change? Maybe. But I'll wait.
#FFA & #AirTrafficControl staffing has had mandatory overtime from lack of head count for years. Now #ElonMusk setting this number back further, including inspectors and mechanics, pushing threats and loss of air safety higher. All #Elon can offer is another Internet connection. Not what they need.
The controllers were probably otherwise engaged, i.e., writing emails to justify their existence because FAA leadership provided exactly ZERO guidance to its workforce yesterday. NONE.
Themes, not details lolol exactly 0 companies in this godforsaken country will ever do anything that protects human life unless it is highly profitable for them to do so
If Southwest Airlines thought they could profit off human organs, they would intentionally crash planes and pick up the scattered organs of passengers to sell on eBay, or whatever it is that a supervillain would do
So you just opened the article..? Read the entire article please. The private pilot completely misunderstood the tower and disregarded their correction. This is not a tower issue, this is an idiot pilot issue.
Generally speaking, for commercial airlines the 1st officer (copilot) handles comms while the pilot drives the plane. This seems like a "you had one job" situation.
I've piloted a 737-800 using MS Flight Sim out of Midway with taxi instructions from the tower. But it's in text as well as audio. I would get lost if I simply had to commit directions to memory. They must have some method I'm not aware of.
That business jet clearly had the right-of-way under new FAA rules. (See article 17, clause 20: Any billionaire traveling in a private jet has the right of way at all times over any plane carrying pathetic "normal" people)
I will not be flying anywhere (except maybe to leave the country permanently if it gets to that) any time in the foreseeable future due to DOGE destroying the FAA.
Must be those DEI hires in the tower- NOT! Thank God, the crew pulled up and no- one was killed! Obviously, a safety issue and needs investigating but don’t threaten and cut air traffic controllers jobs!!
We are supposed to fly out of O’Hare in September and I normally am so laid back when flying not much phases me. These crashes, close calls on collisions are causing me quite a bit of anxiety.

Sorry, but that's always bothered me😉

Very descriptive
The problem is with dismissing experienced controllers when there is already a shortage.
