That's an underrated song in their catalog...somehow they butchered it like a high school coverband. There were 3 very distinct tempos happening at the same time.
I saw them in concert when they toured with Wolfgang on bass and Dave singing in about 2003. Wolfie wasn’t very good playing yet and Dave sang about every 5th word. He was just brutal. The crowd sang most of the songs. But Eddie and Alex were on point.
Being a great front man doesn’t necessarily require a great voice. When you have both (like Freddie Mercury) it’s amazing. Arguably it may be better to charisma ala DLR than being able to sing great and be boring at the same time.
True. I always think of that debate- who’s the best front man and Freddie and Dave are right up there.
Robert Plant, Corey Glover, Axl Rose, Chris Cornell, Simon Le Bon, Fred Schneider, all the hair band guys…
I’ll take Corey Glover and Freddie Mercury.
Completely forgot about Vince Neill.
Also Bon Jovi back in the day was great. Now? Saw him/them in 2022 and I think they made the music purposefully louder so you couldn’t hear his singing. Still, a good entertainer.
The ways they are all selling it make me wonder if they actually did perform that as written and rehearsed. Not backing any of the drugs out of the process just thinking the roll they were on started a long time before the show.
You would absolutely love Noel Monk's memoir "Runnin with the Devil." He was VH's manager for the DLR era and one of the common themes is "omg the band is so unbelievably fucked up we might have to cancel the show" followed by VH delivering a performance like the one you posted, every time.

Front man that could sing:
Freddie, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickenson, Robert Plant in whatever order you prefer.
Front man that couldn’t sing: DLR, Vince Neil…
