Sometimes it’s okay to DNF a book and come back to it years later.
I have DNFed Gideon the Ninth two times. I could not connect with it.
This is my third time reading it and I am loving it. And I can’t wait to finish it.
So, put that book down and come back to it later.

I rarely put a book down for good, although I sometimes hurl one with great force.
Let’s be real tho, I’m too ADHD to ever come back to something I DNF. It’s a commitment.
My BFF: "Get rid of it!"
Me: "Okay but I might like it one day"
My Best Friend, who has also read these books: "You will not! It is trash!"
So they remain on my shelf
there have been so many books i knew i would (someday) love and just... put it on my bookshelf to stare at every day until i was finally ready. happy you're having a good time with it!
The BBC made what can best be described as a brave attempt at a much abridged adaptation in 2000. a lot better than it had a right to be given the enormity of the subject.
Second try was the charm. Someone needs to make a 12-hour miniseries out of it.
The first chapter or two feel unironically dark-edgelord and I just could not.
It wasn't until I was stuck on a badly delayed train with nothing else to read that I grudgingly pushed through for longer.
It is now one of my favourite series of all time.
