Am I understanding tariffs correctly? Countries pay our government the tariff “fee” (tax) to sell here, the government pockets the money and the consumers pay for it on the back-end at time of purchase? So Trump is literally screwing the American people with higher prices whilst pocketing the cash?
I would change this to trump pissing Canada fan and then the fan directing the pee onto the American people. He isn’t affected by this but the people are.

The tariffs purpose is to antagonize Canada. To make his base angry at Canada. To drive a wedge between the US and one of its oldest allies. He will blame the economic struggles he creates to justify a military invasion and annexation . It's his Chzekoslovakia.

I got a kick out of this, but I think it misses the point - the tariff threat is meant to force a reaction so as to create the illusion of power, which is good enough for T. Their message is still “Canada bent the knee”. Maybe we (I’m Canadian) should have called his bluff.
