Indeed! In the House of Hammer magazine series, there was a running comic strip with different adventures of Father Sandor. It’s still very adaptable for a media series in my opinion.

I collected House of Hammer magazine back in the day, I'd completely forgotten about Sandor's escapades! Remember the Van Helsing's Terror Tales comic strip very well though. Thanks for the nostalgia flashback!

Next time you do a pub quiz with fellow horror fans, try tripping them up by asking how many Dracula films are in the Hammer series. When (if?) they all say: "Seven!", allow yourself a smidgeon of smugness when you say - quite correctly - "Nine!" They'll be arguing about it for weeks!! 😉🤣

It's not my point, Hammer themselves list Brides as the second and this as the third in the series, as do all other references. Brides continues directly on from the original therefore an obvious sequel and part of the series. Either way, this is classic stuff.

What an excellent introduction to Hammer. I first saw this on late night TV as a kid, I was terrified! The scene where Klove first revives Dracula really stuck with me 😱

The final film (Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires, which features both Van Helsing and Dracula) is 2:35.1 but other than that yes, this is the only one of the originals in that ratio...

Superb, now that's what I call a proper horror poster. I did a Bat Convention in the 80's run by a guy trying to save British bats on the southbank in London, one of the highlights was Christopher Lee's cape from this film was there, he must have been a tall man, it was huge.

Ron Stebbing who ran them dedicated his entire life to saving bats all over the world. I helped set up and run NHBS which is still going, we sold Natural History books, so got to meet lots of seriously interesting people.

Good point about Lee not having dialogue and how he completely dominates each scene he's in even without it. In fact, I wish the series had continued to leave him, well, speechless. There is a power in silence, even if we are deprived of that sonorous voice.

I agree the lack of dialogue works perfectly here but it's hard to imagine the series without the imposing voice. On the other hand, Lee's screen presence is so commanding you may have a point...! 🤔
