thinking about how Powell was sacked from the Shadow Cabinet, refuted by his colleagues, and made a long-standing pariah by Rivers of Blood, while Labour has had MPs incite race riots and call for concentration camps and barely get a shrug
The only alternative to a Reform/Tory led government in 2029 will be a Labour led government (probably a Labour/LibDem one) .
If you think Labour are illiberal then facilitate a Reform/Tory one . And good luck, you’ll need it
The average UK voter doesn’t give a shit about immigration. They care about the NHS, welfare, including minimum wage, etc. pandering to Reform voters will not work. It never did for the Tory’s for example.
This fella belongs in Reform surely. Any mainstream politicians calling to leave ECHR are either not serious and pandering to the latest dog whistle or dangerous because the end game is removing protections from ordinary people to leave exploitation on the table
The most worrying thing about this (to me) is that he probably is getting constituents telling him that immigration is what they worry about. It's unlikely they do, but messages they are seeing tell them that immigration is to blame for what's really worrying them. /
So, with a slimmish majority and a lack of acceptable principles, he reacts. Doesn't seem to want to do the hard stuff and work to combat the misinformation.
Just my guess, but I suspect it's far from a unique case.
Fuck sake. He’s got a majority of less than 1,000. This is the problem - a lot of self serving shites will have been elected on paper thin majorities and will spout whatever hatstand bollocks they think will save their worthless skins
Ah, so leaving human rights - great (not). You can’t limit asylum, we take fewer than almost anywhere. If someone needs asylum they need it. Immigrants pay for NHS and are a massive net gain, in many ways.
Just watched this entire @jagohazzard.bsky.social video of a trip on the Liberty Line to calm myself down. At 3.39 you can see the house I grew up in reflected. It has been painted, mystifyingly, yellow.
Or, get an actual whip, and go to town on the idiot. While I accept labour must be a broad grouping to maintain power, there’s no room for grubby little proto-fascists
It makes me laugh - last election Labour were so determined to stop any left wingers standing for parliament, while being completely unconcerned about letting any batshit right wing candidates through, look where we are now. Can anyone claim this guy is more authentically Labour than Diane Abbott?
They aren't the concerns of most voters. They are the concerns of the racists who vote Reform, or the people who believe the bullshit that people like Farage spread.
And the hate rolls on. Watch out Britain you are falling in to Putin, Trump land , so the rich can steal more money whilst you fight amongst yourselves
I know that it was widely discussed that because of the scale of the victory some of these people would slip through the net, but do they not realise how crazy they seem?
When I think of "hyper liberal," I too think of throwing trans people under the bus, taking PIP away from disabled people, and cutting the winter fuel allowance with no impact assessment.
Certainly HAVE to withdraw the whip. And sack him probably. Can't have people like him queering the pitch whilst you are trying to destroy the country.
I’m always interested when people talk about telling a story. What story do you actually want to tell? I’m not trying to be facetious. I just really don’t get it when people talk about that. I think there comms are shit but I want to know what the story is that everybody keeps talking about.
Ann i don’t need a story, but i sense the country does. Where are we headed, how are we going to get there and what will it look like. Telling people stuff they know is confirmation not motivation. When things today are broken & if you keep reminding people of that & you don’t you create /1
Anything other than fear.
You vacate the field to be filled by lies. Rachel reeves is an incredibly poor communicator. People need hope not fear. Stammer is better but is dealing in misery. If that’s his best he should fuck off now
Have you noticed who's in charge of Labour now? They all agree with him. They're more likely to withdraw the whip from anyone who says this guy is wrong.
And he was locked up without trial in a camp on the Isle of Man. You’d think that would be a lesson about the importance of human rights but apparently not.

There us no peace gor this racist, fascist shite in tge Lanour party.
No wonder they are hemorrhaging support to Greens and LDs
That's not the reason why.
Oops, no l haven't! That was blue Labour.
How dare the bastard suggest leaving the ECHR?!
What a complete dickhead

This type of politician doesn't care about policy position as long as it secures them another term.
This is all so racist.
Because not rowing back the laws on protest and the continual punishment of a small powerless minority group doesn't seem very liberal to me.

Do they vet for self-awareness? 🤷🏻♂️
