Donald Trump’s new shared fund-raising agreement with the Republican National Committee directs a portion of donations to the political account he has used to pay his legal bills before any money goes to the party itself.

Didn't Hillary Clinton at some point in her campaigning for President do something like this, where she got first cut on supposedly party contributions?
The oddity of the "Hillary Victory Fund" was doing it before securing the nomination; the complaint was that it was supposed to help state parties but very little of the $ went to them.
But it was all for campaigning, not paying legal fees of a candidate already found liable in multiple cases.
I don't remember that.
Normally, presumptive nominees get the reign of their party's national committee, to install allies. But they don't use it to suck the party dry.
Honestly, I would love it if someone would explain how it is legal for the RNC to pay a private citizen’s legal bills with its money. I understand he is the nominee again unfortunately but it still seems like a misappropriation of funds…
I’m not a campaign finance attorney, but nobody is required to donate to the RNC and there are usually disclosures (stating how the money will be distributed) prior to the point of donation, so donors have been informed and still chosen to donate.
It's relatively neutral for Biden.
But it could be very bad for the GOP in down ballot races. Which would be good: support a wannabe dictator, lose at the polls.
I'm ok with this arrangement. I'm not sure how it's legal, but I'd rather GOP donations go to shitty lawyers than to try to get shitty fascists elected.
I think it's probably legal because it's not technically CAMPAIGN fundraising. If a candidate PAC raises money for a campaign, it's limited in how it spends the cash, but the parties themselves don't have a lot of those restrictions. God knows, I will enjoy watching them bleed to death either way.

Long answer:
NNNNOOOOOOOO.........
Also: she's never been arrested, she's never committed rape, and she's still allowed to do business in New York.

… The question goes to the few rational Republicans who are supposed to still exist.
Trump has conquered the GOP.
Is that illegal?
