it is a visceral and messed up demonstration of the concept of "overton window" that you felt this should be mentioned at all. they're not shifting the window, they're trying to take the whole wall out with a wrecking ball.
Amen. I'm just amazed that that policy doesn't violate some federal statute. If it doesn't, it seems like it should. Of course, this regime doesn't really care about the law or the constitution… Or human decency.
It should certainly be a cause for concern for anyone who is not interested in being disappeared to a forced labor camp in a country they've never even been to.
