“I don’t want to”, “I’m unable to”, “Why do you feel I should be forced to adopt?”, and finally telling them why I wouldn’t pass on my intergenerational baggage to anyone, and accusing the asker of mental cruelty for making me relive it.
I spend a lot of time also fending off "oh when are you due" questions. I'm in my late (LATE) 40s and have a medical condition that causes distended stomach. There is NO good way to end that convo. *sigh*
