When you're talking to someone MAGA about a false "belief" they hold, there's an interesting two-step. First, they assert the lie and hope you don't know enough or are brave enough to confront them.
If they are confronted with the truth, they pivot to "it's okay to lie because liberals deserve it."
If they are confronted with the truth, they pivot to "it's okay to lie because liberals deserve it."

Russ Vought uses this argument a lot, actually.
jK. I'm not that old. It was, like, 10 years ago. Then Trump showed up and suddenly "Sure he's a liar, BUT...."
"i had to vote for Trump because liberals drove me to this"
This is more their gospel than the, um, actual gospels.
If not, how has the edifice not collapsed already?
The "ten commandments" were only intended to be kept within your tribe, to anyone outside you can murder, lie or steal as you like
Because they are in a cult.
I used to be Baptist. My favorite thing was watching members of my church literally hide when I’d see them in the liquor store.
Their actions told the truth, their mouths said something else.
The point is that MAGA relationship to "truth" is not like ours. It's not about empiricism, but power.
They understand this, and really chose sides long ago.
Fox and other conservative media are training for this as well.
It's very much the same vibe as someone piercing a social fiction, like mentioning Aunt May's adultery that everyone knows happened, but you're supposed to pretend didn't.
Liberals do not deserve it.
It's all based on republican party lies against liberals. Baseless, untrue nonsense.
Magas deserve their suffering.
No one else does.
