Happy big 95 to Gene Hackman. The Conversation might actually be the best movie of the '70s. And when I don't get in my head about the "real" answer, I sometimes think it's the best movie I've ever seen. He'll kill you if he gets a chance.

My mother had a boyfriend who said this all the time. He finally made me watch it in High School. I ended up liking it a lot. I couldn't tell him that though. As a teenager from a divorced family, I was an awful person back then.
One of my absolute favorite actors. The Conversation is an outstanding film. Night Moves and Scarecrow are some other underrated gems starring the great man.
One of my absolute favourite actors ever in one of my absolute favourite movies ever. And French Connection 1 & 2. And Bonnie & Clyde. And Night Moves. And Mississippi Burning. And Unforgiven. And The Quick & The Dead. And Young Frankenstein. And Crimson Tide. Enemy Of The State. Heist. Get Shorty…
Everyone talks about DeNiro & Pacino & I love them both, but for my money Hackman is a match for anyone in the history of cinema. And yeah, The Conversation is his greatest performance, partly because it’s so against type.
