Somewhat true. It’s a shame what takes to be a billionaire seems to drive anything like empathy or compassion from at least the characters we’re familiar with..
show me a billionaire that is both actually a billionaire and pays all of his employees a middle class income and THEN we can say that billionaire is a genius. because if they're a billionaire without exploiting workers, then they must be doing something profoundly correct
Billionaires are stunted man and sometimes womanchildren who need to gobble up the whole world because they're missing some basic shit that'd be better addressed in therapy.
"Behind every great fortune, there is a crime" - Balzac.
The epigraph to The Godfather. A simplification of the original statement, in French, by Honore de Balzac. But I think if he was alive today and encountered the likes of Musk and Zuckerberg he would have accepted the modern usage.
Just today I had to deal with my co-workers saying how Muskie was saving the planet with electric vehicles, and how cool it would be if he made it to Mars. Fucking simps, the whole lot of 'em.
Perfect description!! I'd also like to add they are the ones looking for the most money for the least work just like anyone who lands on top of the pyramid.
They're also the inevitable consequence of random successes / failures. Mostly, endeavour fails, but, in the hands of greedy hoarders, the Ultra-Greedies, when they are lucky, they monopolise everything.
The remedy is easy, treat hoarding disorder. Accept luck as the driver.
Some of them (rather rarely) can also be very smart, but that’s entirely irrelevant to them being billionaires. Being a billionaire doesn’t take brains, it takes being a ruthless monster and rather lucky to boot
billionaires are weirdly enough my argument for humans not being evil by nature, as they typically get ahead by being depraved and vile on a level that most people can't conceive of
TBF those aren't mutually exclusive and not every exploiter succeeds. I would go so far as to say that exploiting effectively and over the long term takes real talent.

The rich may as well be extraterrestrials considering how detached they are from the life and struggles of the common citizens.
Jensen Huang, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, etc
Even Zuckerberg. He’s an evil bastard, but he’s clearly smart
Not trying to defend anyone or to flame, I would like to learn more about some of the famous silicon valley names
But in general, yeah... as a breed billionaires are not exactly exemplars of humanity at its best -- or even its mediocre.

I've tended to make exceptions for artists who hit the jackpot, but Jowling's debauchery made me strongly reconsider even that.
No one should have more money than the GDP of an entire goddamn country and I stand by that.
Simpsons schoolbus meme, "Don't make me tap the sign."
The sign says, "Billionaires aren't geniuses, they're professional labor exploiters with no attachment to reality"

What if someone was just born rich and used that to convince people they’re smart?
“Uh that wouldn’t happen.”
And I am all for it
Mostly because we block the shit out of hateful fucks.
