I agree with you on ROS, but feel like for Finn, TLJ is where things started going wrong. His desire to run away felt like resetting to where he’d been in TFA and then he got sent on a side quest that didn’t accomplish anything. TFA set him up for bigger and better things than TLJ gave him to do.

Also, if you have not bothered with any of the TV shows, you’ve mostly made the right call, but Andor is fantastic. Who knows if season 2 (starting in three weeks) will live up to it, but I highly recommend watching season 1.

I don't know if they will ever top The Last Jedi. They were so dumb for not following through on that movie. For TV shows, Andor is worth checking out. Very well done.

Last Jedi was a BANGER and then everything that made TLJ cool got pushed to the wayside for the final movie. I've always said that a bad Star Wars movie is still a good movie but RoS really tested that theory for me and it was because of stuff like this

Last Jedi was phenomenal, absolutely agree. Was the best Disney SW content till Andor came out, IMO!

And you summed up exactly how I felt/feet about TROS. It spit in the face of TLJ and treated viewers like babies and made some truly dumb plot & character choices

I'm with you on all your takes except for this one. Cinematically? Fantastic movie with some of the best shots in all of Star Wars. Story wise? Meh. I really disagree on a whole with what Rian did with Luke's character. And as cool as it looked, the Holdo Maneuver is canonically stupid.

I am a TFA stan but still can’t get on board with TLJ or TROS. I was pumped after the first movie despite some of the cliche things, the characters were well developed and it was smartly written in sooooo many ways. To view them all now as a trilogy is deflating.

I just listened to Zahn's Thrawn trilogy on my road trips and commute over the last few months and it had me sitting in the car to finish chapters. He really captured the essence of the OG characters and his version of Thrawn made him one of the best villains in scifi ever.

"THEY FLY NOW" - That's the level on which that movie is operating. Feels like it was written by an 11 year old boy. It's a "and then this happens..." movie. Rapid series of events that occur just because and a plot twist that undermines the previous two movies. IT STINKS!

I feel like Episode 7 is at least partially to blame for the reception. It was basically just a redo of A New Hope, so people were primed for more of the same only to get a pretty critical look at the tropes which are central to the fandom and none of the fanboy EU shit they'd been speculating over.
